FSD is a non-profit, non-political, independent and neutral organisation.

Its mission is to eradicate landmines and reduce the humanitarian, social, economic and environmental impact of mines and unexploded ordnances so that affected communities can return to a better life in a safe environment.

Location: Sudan (Nuba Mountains / south Sudan)

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified demining supervisor / min. 1 year experience in Humanitarian Mine Action
  • Ability to work in remote areas and to operate safely in potentially insecure areas
  • Ability to work independently, recognising the larger operational structure.
  • Capable of forward planning / solution-orientated
  • Physically and mentally fit to work in harsh climate
  • Disciplined
  • Adapt and work efficiently with and in different cultures
  • Skilled in management of a subordinate team
  • Comfortable with office administration and basic finances
  • Conversant with IMSMA and with the common computer tools (Word, Excel, e-mail systems)
  • Comfortable with written and oral English language
  • Knowledgeable in communication equipment including HF/VHF, improvised antenna, sat link, GPS Other Requirements:

  • EOD level4 (IMAS) qualification is an advantage (in addition to demining experience, not instead of)
  • Conversant with Ebinger 420 and 421 GC Detectors Prior work experience in Sudan or other African countries is an advantage.
  • Arabic or French languages an advantage
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics
  • Driving license
