Getty Scholars Program at the Villa for Researchers of all Nationalities; Since 1985, the Getty Scholars Program has hosted nearly 1,500 residential scholars from around the world to conduct research on annual themes. Each year, 300–400 applications are received, with about a dozen Villa Scholar awards granted. Recent projects have explored the arts, history, and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean region and the afterlife of antiquity, with emphasis on global interconnections across the Near East, Africa, and Europe.
