African Female Artist Mentorship Program


African Female Artist Mentorship Program;The African Female Artist Mentorship Program (AFAMP) was created by the Girl Child Art Foundation to empower and support young African female artists in the creative industry. Building on GCAF’s successful art workshops, exhibitions and art‑based educational programs, AFAMP provides additional one‑on‑one mentorship and professional guidance tailored to the needs of emerging female artists.

Program Design

  • Supports individual artistic methods and professional ambitions of emerging female artists.

  • Provides access to skills and experience of selected mentors.

  • Offers one‑on‑one online and in‑person mentorship sessions at least once every two weeks, plus four group meetings.

  • Creates a safe, free and accessible space for young women to grow their talent and express themselves.

  • Encourages mentees to explore art forms of interest, contribute to communities through exhibits and participate in community events.

    Eligibility & Selection

  • Mentees selected based on demonstrated commitment to their practice.

  • Applicants must show clarity and ambition in their goals for the program.

  • Ability to utilize the program to its fullest potential is required.

  • Best suited for emerging female artists maintaining an active studio practice and a body of work outside formal training environments.

    Commitment

  • Mentees must dedicate significant time to their visual art practice.

  • Must keep appointments promptly and actively engage with mentors.

    Program Goal

    To support emerging female visual artists in pursuing career development or technical direction, enabling them to strengthen their practice and grow as professional artists.
