Writers and Literary Translators’ Residencies Program

Residency Experience

Private room in the Château provided

Residents responsible for buying and preparing their own meals

Evening aperitif offered daily by management for social exchange

Weekly dinner prepared and offered by management

Residents free to plan their time and work independently

One public reading organized per session where residents present their work

Eligibility

Writers must have published at least one book (self‑published not accepted)

Playwrights and scriptwriters must be published or produced

Eligible fields: Fiction • Creative nonfiction • Poetry • Literary translation • Plays • Screenplays

Applicants must be fluent in English or French (for exchanges and public readings)

Château is not accessible for people with mobility issues

Applicants must apply for a specific session and indicate second and third choices

Fellowship Opportunities

Ledig‑Rowohlt Grant Fellowship – stipend, lodging, aperitifs, weekly dinner

Château de Lavigny Grant Fellowship – lodging, aperitifs, weekly dinner

Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council Fellowship (Translators) – lodging, stipend, travel allowance, weekly dinner; only for projects translating Swiss writers

Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council Fellowship – lodging, stipend, travel and insurance; only for applicants from countries on Swiss Arts Council list (apply via Swiss Arts Council portal)

Swiss Canton/Foundation or Foreign State/Foundation Fellowship – lodging and stipend (contact residence for details)
