International Kids' Owl Art Contest



Participation Rules

  • Children must be 18 years or younger on the date their entry is mailed

  • No help from adults or AI is allowed in creating the artwork

  • Entries accepted from any country worldwide

  • Age categories: 0–5 years, 6–9 years, 10–14 years, 15–18 years

  • No entry fee

  • Limit: 1 entry per person; 50 entries per school (extra entries may be mailed individually)

  • Siblings may mail entries together

  • All entries become property of the International Owl Center and cannot be returned

  • Entries may be used for decoration, fundraising, promotional purposes, or printed materials

    Media Requirements

  • Artwork must be a two‑dimensional image of an owl

  • No plant or animal materials (grasses, seeds, fur, feathers, etc.)

  • Digital artwork is not accepted due to AI concerns

  • No frames or mattes; canvases must be removed from wooden frames

  • Fragile papers should be mounted on sturdier backing

    Judging Criteria

  • Innovative presentation

  • Unusual perspective or viewpoint

  • Message or idea conveyed

  • Skill with medium appropriate to age group

  • Effective use of colors for emotional impact

  • Strong design elements

  • Humor

    Submission Instructions

  • Artwork must be properly labeled:
    • Small label taped to bottom right corner (front)
    • Large label taped to back with single piece of tape at top

  • Use single‑sided tape only (no glue, staples, double‑sided tape, or adhesives)

  • Labels must be removable for display and fundraising use

  • Write neatly or type information; school addresses are acceptable

  • Package artwork with cardboard or stiff material for protection

  • Original art only – no photocopies or emailed entries

  • Short (~1 minute) video of artist creating the piece may be required for proof

  • Fill out the online entry form when mailing art; schools must upload a spreadsheet of student info

  • Use
    adequate postage – “postage due” entries will not be accepted
