A. Scholarships

1. Distance Learning Scholarships for Students in African Commonwealth, London South Bank University

About 20 distance learning scholarships are available in 2007 for scholars in African Commonwealth countries to study the MSc in Education for Sustainability at London South Bank University. For successful applicants, funding will cover all the costs of tutoring, assessment, study guides and readers, together with a travel grant for attendance at the Introductory week.

2. University College London - Africa Educational Trust Undergraduate International Outreach Bursaries, UK

University College London (UCL) and the Africa Educational Trust (AET) have agreed to collaborate in a scheme to enable students from Africa, who are financially unable to study in the UCL. Each bursary will consist of full tuition fees and a maintenance allowance for the duration of the student’s programme of study, as well as economy air travel to/from the UK at the beginning and end of the bursary-holder’s degree programme.

4. Scholarship for Master in Water Resources Management - ICE WaRM, Australia

ICE WaRM is offering international candidates the opportunity to further their education in the field of water resources management, in Australia. ICE WaRM offers full and partial scholarships which cover the cost of the programme (fee tuition).

4. Summer Course in Mathematics, University of Perugia, Italy

These courses are directed towards young graduates wishing to study mathematics at a graduate level. Each participant is required to choose two courses for a total of 10 hours a week of lectures in addition to problem sessions. Daily attendance is compulsory for participants.

5. The Matsumae International Foundation Fellowships 2008, Japan

Applications are invited for the 2008 Matsumae International Foundation Fellowships. Applicants must not be over 40 years of age at the time of application and shouldn't have been in Japan previously.

6. Financial Aids at The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) in NTUT offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, leading to the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees. All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields from an accredited institution.

7. Masters Studentship in Coastal Software Development, University College Cork, Ireland

University College Cork, Ireland wishes to recruit an additional member to work on the EU ECOOP project. A two-year stipend, €16K p.a. plus tuition fees will be awarded.

8. International Master Course in Cell and Tissue and Biomedical Engineering - Keele University, UK

Institue of Science and Technology in Medicine, Keele University, UK, offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes for biomedical professionals. Bursaries are available to Home and Overseas Students on a competitive basis.

9. MSc Fellowship - University College Dublin, Ireland

A motivated and suitable MSc student is being sought for MSc Fellowship at the University of University College Dublin, Ireland. The student will receive an annual tax free stipend of €21000 for maintenance and to cover university fees.

10. Postgraduate Research Studentship in Mathematics, Loughborough University - UK

Five highly motivated students are being sought for full-time three year research studentships in the Mathematics Education Centre at the University of Loughborough. The studentships will comprise full fees (at the UK/EU rate) plus £10,500 per annum maintenance grant.

11. MSc/PhD Studentships in Mechanical Engineering at Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland

Applications are invited for a number of Ph. D. and M.Sc. studentship in the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. The studentships include a maintenance grant of between €16,000 and €18,000 per annum, plus EU College fees and an allowance for consumables and travel.

12. PhD Studentship in Cancer Research, University of Plymouth, UK

PhD candidates of outstanding ability are being sought to join University of Plymouth, UK for a PhD Studentship in Cancer Research. The stipends will be £12,300.

13. PhD Studentships in Computer Modelling, University of Exeter, UK

Applications are invited for a PhD Studentship post in water distribution systems modelling and optimization at University of Exeter, UK. Applicants should have a first degree in Engineering (preferably a MEng in Civil Engineering).

14. PhD Researchers in Global Change and Hurricanes, Utrecht University, The Netherlands

The departments of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences are currently looking for 2 PhD students (AIO) (f/m) for the High Potential Programme granted by the Utrecht University. The gross monthly salary increases from EUR 1,956.- in year 1 to EUR 2,502.- in year 4, according to the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.

15. PhD Fellowships at Leibniz-Institute for Age Research, Jena

The LGSA provides ambitious training and research opportunities for graduates who wish to obtain a PhD in the fields of Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neurobiology or Structural Biology. Eligible are students that have obtained, or that will obtain within half a year, an academic degree comparable to the master degree or diploma in life sciences.

16. PhD Studentships in Politics & International Relations, University of London, UK

The Department of Politics and International Relations at University of London is offering two PhD studentships. Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Germany invites applications for PhD Student for the Department of Cell Biology. A diploma or masters degree in biology or biotechnology are required.

20. PhD Position in Adaptive Higher-order Finite Element Methods, University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), USA

A new Ph.D. position in the field of adaptive higher-order finite element methods is starting in September 2007 at University of Texas. The position comes with a competitive stipend.

21. Research Studentships in Political Sciences, University of Kent at Brussels

The University of Kent at Brussels invites applications for a full time doctoral research studentship commencing in September 2007. Funding will be available for one year in the first instance, extended to a maximum of three years as a registered student of the University of Kent, based on satisfactory academic progress.

22. PhD Student Computational Chemistry at Vrije Universiteit, Netherlands

Vrije Universiteit invites applications for a PhD Student in Computational Chemistry. This project is part of the Research Programme of the National Research School Combination “Catalysis by Design”.

23. Queen Elizabeth II Scholarships for Graduates of Universitas 21 universities - University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham is offering up to three Queen Elizabeth II international scholarships, each worth £5000, for graduates of the Universitas 21 (U21) community. To be eligible for consideration, one must be classified as ‘overseas’ for fees purposes.

24. PhD Student Positions at Department of Computer and Information Science, University of Konstanz, Germany

The University of Konstanz, Department of Computer and Information Science, offers in the period July 1, 2007 - May 1, 2008 ten (10) stipends/part time positions for 10 PhD Students (m/f) within the Graduate Research Program (”Graduiertenkolleg”). Formal requirements include an outstanding diploma/master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field as well as fluency in English and some German.

35. Postdoctoral Fellow in DNA Repair, University of Delaware, USA

A postdoctoral position is available at University of Delaware to study eukaryotic lesion-bypass DNA synthesis and DNA repair. Successful candidate must be a highly motivated Ph.D. with strong backgrounds in biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology.

An opportunity is available at Johns Hopkins University for a funded post-doctoral research position in a cancer biology laboratory focused on development of novel therapeutic strategies for lung cancer. 39. Postdoctoral Position in Climatology at CNERM, The Météo-France Campus in Toulouse

The Météo-France research institute, CNRM, and CERFACS are recruiting a post-doc scientist. Salary of 1700 to 2400 Euros net per calendar month, before income tax, according to job experience, will be offered.

40. Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Neurobiology, Umea University, Sweden

A postdoctoral fellowship to study the molecular biology of the sensory neurons is available at the Department of Molecular Biology, Umea University, Sweden. The applicant must hold a PhD-degree.

41. PhD Studentship in Computer Simulation of Biological Systems at University of Sussex, UK
