World Wildlife Fund Coordinator - African Great Apes Programme

Location: Cameroon

Closing date: 30th June 2008.

Reporting to the Director, Species at WWF International, this position is responsible for providing leadership and technical support for the development, funding and implementation of the WWF African Great Apes Programme - a critical element of the WWF Global Programme Framework.

The key requirements are:

  • Postgraduate university degree in natural resources management, biological sciences, zoology, or conservation biology (PhD preferred; MSc as a minimum)
  • At least 5 years experience in wildlife conservation, conservation programme/project management or coordination at a senior level, preferably in Africa
  • Solid experience with conservation issues in Africa in general, and with Great Apes preferably
  • Proven ability to develop and coordinate conservation programmes and projects
  • Strong skills in programme and project planning, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Experience and understanding of field-based activities essential
  • Proven successful fundraising experience preferred
  • Good understanding of financial management and budgeting
  • Proven management, coordination, communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • Fluency in English, working knowledge of French and knowledge of other African range state languages an asset.

    This is a regional position that will be based at WWF CARPO office in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Please note that ability to travel to project sites is essential for this position.
