The Resident Coordination system in Burkina Faso aims to bring together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level.

Duties:

  • Provide overall technical support to the preparation of UNCT meetings, retreats, including the preparation of thematic presentations, and ensure proper record of decisions taken and their timely follow up;

  • Provide overall technical guidance to prepare and elaborate the RC annual report;

  • In liaison with the operational committee formulate the UNCT annual workplan, ensure its implementation and facilitate its mid term review;

  • Ensure budgeting proposals and supervise the management of the RC funds;

  • In liaison with the Strategic Planning, provide technical support and guidance to various UN Thematic Groups (formulation of their Annual Workplan, Organization of trainings);

  • Liaise with DOCO on various policy guidance and support;

  • Mobilize resources for coordination’s activities;

  • Keep abreast the RC about the initiatives of the Secretariat Analyse and disseminate DOCO information’s and guidelines within the UNCT, the Programm Management Comite Operation Management Team, UN Communication Group and ensure their timely follow up;

  • Advise the RC and the UNCT on the implementation of the UN reform, especially the best practices;

  • Provide technical support to the coordination mechanisms such as Programm Management Team, Operation Management Team, UN Communication Group (meetings, retreats, annual workplan, annual reports);

    Required:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences, Development Management or related field.

  • At least 5 years of experience in the area of development management and cooperation, and in UN coordination and UNDAF development .

  • Good knowledge of the UN system and UN Reform processes.

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.

  • Fluency in French which is the official language of the duty station.

  • A good working language of English is necessary.
