Somalia NGO Consortium/NGO Safety Program (NSP) is recruiting the following position:
Title: Finance Assistant/Accountant – Somalia NGO Consortium/NSP
Location: Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia and Somali land
Start of contact and duration: Negotiable (1 year renewable)
The NGO Safety Program (NSP) aims to reduce the risks posed to program personnel and asset of NGOs operating in Somalia through the provision of specialized, coordinated and focused security management support.
The Somalia NGO Consortium started as a mechanism for international and local NGOs operational in Somalia to coordinate various activities and work together on specific issues affecting them.
Daily booking of all transactions and reconciliation of cash and bank balances
Monthly reporting to the NGO Consortium Focal Point/Senior Administration and Finance Officer providing fully reconciled reports detailed income, expenditure and cash/bank reconciliations, budget follow ups and tracking
Assist in preparation and follow up of program budgets for NSP and NGO Consortium
Ensure that all expenses are properly authorized before on time and in accordance with all financial guidelines
Preparation of the payroll for NSP and NGO Consortium staff
Maintain filing systems for NSP and NGO Consortium in accordance with guidelines
Ensure that all bookings in cash-books are done on a daily basis for both NSP and NGO Consortium and in strict compliance with guidelines to include advances and pre-payments
Creates spreadsheets to enable easy cash/required documents handling for both NSP and NGO Consortium
Provides Documentation required by Auditor and/or Donors for NSP and NGO Consortium
Assist the senior Admin./Finance Officer in the preparation of budgets and follow ups
Maintain a schedule for payment of utilities and lease agreements for NSP and NGO Consortium
Provide leave cover for the Office Manager of the Somalia NGO Consortium
Performs other duties as required by Program Manager NSP and Focal Point of Somalia NGO Consortium
Degree qualification in accounting or finance and accounting i.e.CPA, ACCA
2 Years experience in an accountancy role
2 Years of experience in a similar position in a humanitarian organization
Detailed understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Proven presentation/facilitator skills using adult learning methodologies
Donor relation, grants management and fundraising
Valid passport and driving license
