CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation is one of the leading and most diverse international civil society networks, with members and partners in more than 100 countries and a staff of 30 people from 20 countries.
It implements a range of programmatic activities focusing on strengthening civil society and its role in governance and development worldwide.
It also serves as a convener of global civil society leaders through its annual World Assembly and other convening activities.
Fundraising vacancy at CIVICUS - CIVICUS is recruiting for a Resource Mobilisation Coordinator to work as part of the Resource Mobilisation team.
Within the Department, this role will have a focus on the development of new funding opportunities for CIVICUS, as well as supporting the management and expansion of the established donor base.
The work is both conceptual (involving research and strategy development) and administrative.
The ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Commitment to CIVICUS’ vision, mission and values
A university degree in an appropriate discipline of the social sciences; advanced degree preferable.
Relevant work experience with a proven track record in fundraising, resource mobilisation and grant contract management, including experience of successfully accessing resources through mechanisms other than traditional grant applications.
Thorough understanding of international donors (multilateral; bilateral, and private), particularly donors funding civil society strengthening work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, and ability to adapt styles to meet the needs of different audiences; advanced skills in at least one other UN language preferable.
Wide experience in grant proposal writing, reporting and donor liaison.
Strong ability to develop plans and strategies and to work toward their realisation and improvement under demanding performance schedules.
Excellent time management, administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent skills in office productivity software (MS Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel).
Thorough knowledge of civil society issues around the world.
Ability to work successfully individually and as part of a team.
Ability to work calmly under pressure.
A flexible attitude to work.
This job may require a limited amount of overseas travel.
Start date: as soon as possible.
Duration: initially a 12 month contract will be offered.
