Project Officer - Child Protection

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Advanced University Degree in social sciences, social work, international humanitarian law (IHL), human rights or another related field.

Experience:

Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in child protection or related programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation, including field experience working in conflict affected areas and experience of social welfare approaches.

Experience of work on sexual violence and sexual exploitation an asset. Languages:

Fluency in English required, knowledge of another UN language and Luo an asset.

Other Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Current knowledge of child protection and emergency issues, policies as well as social programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation;

  • Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills;

  • Ability to supervise professional and support staff;

  • Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills;

  • Good knowledge of computer management and applications;

  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment, as well as in a results-oriented team and to establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
