Programme Officer - Mines Advisory Group - Congo

Mines Advisory Group (MAG)

Applications are invited for the post of Programme Officer - Mines Advisory Group - Congo so as to arrive not later than 19 Nov 2007.

Location: Congo (Democratic Republic of the) (Kinshasa )

Closing date: 19 Nov 2007

Requirements

The successful candidates will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently.

The ability to produce written material of a high quality and prioritize a heavy workload to meet deadlines is essential.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner.

This post will involve participating in donor and coordination meetings that are frequently conducted in French therefore French language skills are essential for this role.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a programme that has experienced a period of expansion in recent months.

Humanitarian Mine Action and the DDR process in DRC are critical to the ongoing efforts to reconstruct and rehabilitate a country devastated by years of conflict.

This post is based in Kinshasa, but will involve travel to operational areas in the provinces of Equateur and Katanga.
