Advanced university degree in an area of environmental science or a first university degree with relevant combination of professional and academic qualifications. Specialised training in environmental assessment and early warning or science writing and editing.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years experience in environmental assessments and writing, reporting, editing and publication design, of which at least 3 years should be at the international level.
  • Experience in coordinating the production of a major environmental report an asset. Proven project management skills.


    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, excellence in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages would be an asset.

    Other Desirable Skills:

  • Working knowledge of publishing software packages.
  • Experience of contractual procedures within the UN system and of publishing processes in general an advantage.
