Democracy and Governance Program Officer

Pact Tanzania is seeking a Program Officer to work on a civil society strengthening program entitled MCA-BONGA. The MCA-BONGA is a capacity building program for Tanzanian advocacy and media organizations focusing on anti-corruption and good governance.

This program is supported by the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation and USAID.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, experienced individual to serve as a member of our management team.

Pact will be increasing its program scope during the next year and we are looking for creative, energetic individuals to lead the new projects and to serve as a member of the program team on the implementation of the BONGA and other capacity building programs.

Qualifications and Competencies for the Program Officer position:

  • Energetic team player who enjoys working with NGOs

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in field(s) relevant to fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities as described above.

  • Technical knowledge of media and Tanzanian advocacy issues preferred

  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience as a program development professional, with preference for candidates whose experience includes working with NGOs in Zanzibar and on the mainland.

  • Creative thinker

  • Strong computer (word processing) literacy, skills in graphic/web design a plus.

  • Strong Language capability in both Kiswahili and English.

  • Proven ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in both Kiswahili and English (please submit a writing sample).
