Country Director

Location: Dadaab, Kenya.

The Center for Victims of Torture provides rehabilitative support to survivors of torture and works for the prevention of torture worldwide.

The Center for Victims of Torture is seeking a Country Director to provide leadership for a new psychosocial program based in refugee camps in Dadaab, serving individuals who have suffered torture and war trauma.

Qualifications:

  • BA degree required in International Development or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in relevant management and supervisory experience in an international NGO.
  • Familiarity with mental health programs desired.
  • Familiarity with private, US government, UN and multi-lateral funders.
  • Experience with financial management of NGOs.
  • Demonstrated ability in donor proposal development, implementation, project monitoring, evaluation, and negotiating skills.
  • Experience in program start-up, including managing contractual relationships with local vendors.
  • Strong participatory leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; strong computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage self-care, and to promote staff well-being.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective security policies and procedures in unstable environments.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in unpredictable, isolated environment, lacking in amenities.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience living and working in Horn of Africa desirable.
