Community Development Coordinator, Malawi - GOAL

Location: Blantyre, Malawi (with frequent travel to Nsanje/Balaka)

The Gender Coordinator will be playing a leading role in the role out of the GOAL Malawi gender mainstreaming process.

Purpose of the Gender Focal Person: The purpose of this role is to serve as a coordinator for the gender mainstreaming process within GOAL Malawi, including continuous monitoring and follow-up with departments in Balaka, Blantyre, and Nsanje.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline essential; postgraduate qualifications in gender preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years international experience with gender programming (women’s rights, gender-based violence, male-involvement) with at least one year experience in gender mainstreaming;
  • Strong understanding of all GOAL programme areas (livelihoods, food distributions, HIV, education and wat/san);
  • Strong facilitation and training skills, including participatory training methodologies;
  • Experience writing proposals on gender mainstreaming for external donors;
  • Strong analytical and English writing skills;
  • Ability to coordinate staff across different sectors;
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills;
  • Must be able to use own initiative and work independently;
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, internet).
