The Faculty has wide-ranging research capabilities and all six of our departments are able to offer unique and challenging research opportunities. There is always extremely strong competition for our funding awards and you need to have achieved a high standard in your studies to date (the equivalent of a UK distinction/high upper second class degree) to receive a funding award. There are opportunities to obtain funding through research studentships funded by EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK), the University and the individual departments. Alternative routes for funding your PhD also exist through our Doctoral Training Centres, Research Associate/Assistant vacancies and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
