B: Scholarships

10 Scholarships will be awarded to Commonwealth citizens under the Commonwealth-Grenada St George's University Scholarship Program. This scholarship program seeks to make education possible for top scholars in Commonwealth countries who might otherwise be unable to attend university.

A number of Oxford colleges offer Reach Oxford scholarships to students from developing countries who, for political or financial reasons, or because equivalent educational facilities do not exist, cannot study for a degree in their own countries. The scholarship will cover University and college fees, full grant for living expenses.

Loughborough University, UK is offering eight full-fee scholarships for students to study the Water and Waste Engineering MSc by distance learning over a period of up to five years. The awards are only available to nationals of Commonwealth countries who are resident in their home country or in another qualifying Commonwealth country.

The Master in Public Health Commonwealth Scholarships award determinations will be made by the University’s Commonwealth-Grenada Scholarship Committee based primarily on academic excellence, financial need and the student’s commitment to the chosen discipline. Preference will be given to students from developing countries and small states.

25 MBA Commonwealth Scholarships will be awarded to Commonwealth citizens under the Commonwealth-Grenada St George's University Scholarship Program. Students must have an offer of acceptance from St. George’s University into the program of their chosen discipline.

The Government of Brunei Darussalam offers ten Commonwealth Scholarships each year. These are open to eligible citizens of all Commonwealth countries, and are available for First Degree, Higher National Diploma and Diploma courses.

Students from a developing country in the Commonwealth who meet the entrance requirements for study at respective institutions are eligible to apply for Commonwealth Scholarships in South Africa. Each institution (listed) has its own application and selection procedure and it is imperative for interested applicants to contact the institutions directly.

The Albert J. Harris Award is given for a recently published journal article or monograph that makes an outstanding contribution to the International Reading Association's (IRA) understanding of prevention or assessment of reading or learning disabilities. The deadline for submission is September 1.

This Scholarships award determinations will be made by the University’s Commonwealth-Grenada Scholarship Committee based primarily on academic excellence, financial need and the student’s commitment to the chosen discipline. Awards will only be made to resident citizens of Commonwealth countries who have been residents within the country for at least the previous 12 months prior to the application deadline.

The Dina Feitelson Research Award is a US$500 award which recognizes an outstanding empirical study published in English in a refereed journal. Nomination for the Dina Feitelson Research Award is open to all literacy professionals.

Preference for this scholarship award will be given to students from developing countries and small states. Recipients will be required to return to their home countries and put their acquired education and skills to good use.

The Government of Jamaica offers one Commonwealth Scholarship annually. The award is open to citizens of any Commonwealth country, and is tenable at the University of the West Indies. The award is intended primarily for postgraduate study, but candidates for undergraduate courses may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

The Malaysian Government offers up to ten Commonwealth Scholarships each year. The awards are tenable at any Malaysian public university, and are available to citizens of any Commonwealth country. It is intended that seven will be at Masters level, and three for doctoral study.

The Government of Mauritius, in partnership with the University of Mauritius, offers Commonwealth Scholarship every two years. Successful candidates are required to return to the country immediately after completin of their course, unless permission is obtained from the Ministry to extend their stay.

The trustees of the AFUW Inc Education Trust invite applications for the biennial Georgina Sweet Fellowship to support a woman student to undertake studies in any field, at an Australian university. The scholarship is valued at $6000 (Australia Dollars).

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago offers Trinidad & Tobago Commonwealth Scholarships each year to students who are citizens of Commonwealth countries. Scholarships are open equally to men and women who are citizens of another Commonwealth country and who are normally resident in any part of the Commonwealth other than Trinidad and Tobago.

The United Nations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and other organizations and media leaders have joined forces to engage young adults (14-24) in contributing to the public dialogue on pressing social issues using the power of the Internet and user-generated content. Awards and prizes include internships at USA Today, the UN, the award-winning PBS Series "P.O.V.", and the Humane Society of the United States; a $5,000 college scholarship from the Gates Foundation.

The University of Dayton offers merit-based scholarships to selected International applicants. Applicants receive consideration for these scholarships on the basis of high school academic performance and ACT or SAT scores. Awards are made for two semesters in an academic year.

IAD Tuition Fellowship Award is a one-year non-renewable and non-extendable fellowship awarded on a competitive basis to students from sub Saharan Africa. The fellowship covers tuition and fees for one academic year.

Full-time applicants for the Master of Nonprofit Organizations (MNO) degree at Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organisations, Case Western Reserve University, may qualify for a merit-based full tuition scholarship. A separate scholarship application is not required. Simply indicate your desire to apply for the Mandel Scholarship on the top of the application form.

Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships (AFPF) are for students from countries other than the U.S. The fellowships cover all costs of international and national U.S. travel. A monthly stipend is provided to cover basic living expenses.

The Daniel Pearl Journalism Fellowship established in partnership with the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships brings promising, mid-career foreign students to work for six months in a US newsroom. The fellowships cover all costs of program-related international and domestic U.S. travel, health insurance, and provides a monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses.

London Business School together with Goldman Sachs is delighted to announce a new scholarship for full-time students. The first £20,000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving candidate. The recipient of the Scholarship will be selected taking into consideration financial need along with academic merit.

The scholarships are to help African alumni undertake studies after they have attended TBA courses. The TBA Postgraduate Scholarships are offered annually. Funding is provided to African nationals only.

Funding for the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships to developing countries is provided by the New Zealand government aid agency, NZAID. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are available in all disciplines, but preference will be given to candidates who nominate fields of study relevant to the development of their home country.

A student position in Computer Science - Intelligent Systems - Biologically motivated object recognition - is available at the Institute of Mathematics and Computing Science, University of Groningen. Applicants should be fluent in English language. Applicants will be asked to do a short assignment in order to demonstrate their research abilities.

About two UNU-IAS Fellowships are awarded to students each year for a period of ten months, starting in October to provide them the opportunity to put the knowledge and expertise acquired during their research to practical policy-relevant use.

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a post-doctoral scientist to support a project on building capacity to improve the safety of animal-source foods in sub Saharan Africa through risk-bases approaches. The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating a major collaborative research project applying and adapting risk-based approaches to the management of food safety.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation invites letters of inquiry (LOI) from qualified organizations to reduce avoidable death and disability due to sub-optimal infant and young child feeding. The program, Alive & Thrive, may be allocated up to U.S. $80 million over 5 years, with a program review after 3 years.
