October 12 2007, ISSUE #053. 1. International Foundation for Science (IFS) Grants Applications for IFS Research Grants are welcome from young scientists in developing countries to do research on the sustainable management, use or conservation of biological or water resources. An eligible candidate for an IFS Research grant is a scientist with at least a Master's or equivalent degree/research experience.
2. Gates Cambridge Scholarship - Cambridge University This scholarship programme enables outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge. Candidates for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship may apply to study any subject currently available at the University.
3. Eiffel Scholarships, Masters and PhD Eiffel scholarships are awarded to foreign students for study in France towards a PhD or master’s degree. The aim of the program is to attract foreign students from developing countries.
4. IPRA Conference Grants for participants from developing and low-income countries The 22nd conference ‘Building Sustainable Futures - Enacting Peace and Development’ will be held in Leuven 15-19 July , 2008. Applications will only be accepted from persons who are both residents in and citizens of a developing/low-income countries.
5. Nanyang Scholarships for Undergraduates International Students The scholarship covers the entire duration of the undergraduate studies. Candidates with international qualifications should have outstanding academic results and extra-curricular activities.
6. International Scholarship for Postgraduate Student, University of Sydney, Australia The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master’s by Research program at the University of Sydney, Australia to apply for the International Research Scholarship. The USydIS will cover tuition fees and living allowance for up to three years with a possibility of one semester’s extension for PhD students.
7. Two Year International Scholar Award The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is now offering fellowships for clinicians/scientists from developing countries. To apply, applicants must be from a developing country, and performing work in a developing country.
8. Otago International Masters Award, The University of Otago, New Zealand The University of Otago International Postgraduate Awards are awarded to Masters' candidates in their thesis year of study. They provide an annual emolument of $13,000 for up to 1 year, the payment of the fees at international level and partial thesis expenses.
9. Aubrey Sheiham Public Health and Primary Care Scholarship The Aubrey Sheiham Public Health and Primary Care Scholarship is a three-month scholarship offered annually by The Cochrane Collaboration to health workers, consumers and researchers living in developing countries. The Aubrey Sheiham Scholar spends the three-month Scholarship period in Oxford.
10. IDP Postgraduate Research Scholarships The scholarships are available to overseas students to study at an Australian institution. Scholarships are not restricted to a study topic.
11. Adelaide Graduate Fee Scholarships, The University of Adelaide AGFS Scholarships are available to eligible candidates to undertake a higher degree by research at the University of Adelaide. Approximately 15 AGFS Scholarships are available for international students from any country to undertake postgraduate research at the University in 2008.
12. Adelaide Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships International, The University of Adelaide The University of Adelaide offers a scholarships scheme for international students undertaking Postgraduate study. All applications for admission consistent with the eligibility and selection criteria will be considered automatically for a scholarship.
13. Adelaide Outstanding Achiever Scholarships International (AOASI), Australia Up to nine Adelaide Outstanding Achiever Scholarships International (AOASI) are available to international students from any country. Benefits are the waiver of full tuition fees for the normal duration of the program, subject to satisfactory performance.
14. Oxford Students Scholarships A number of Oxford colleges offer the Oxford Students Scholarship (OSS) to students from developing countries. Financial need and social commitment are a major criteria for selection.
15. TC Beirne School of Law LLM Scholarships TC Beirne School at The University of Queensland, Australia is offering students the opportunity to apply for a TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship. These scholarships will provide assistance to overseas students enrolled or enrolling in the Master of Laws (LLM) program.
16. Journalist Prize for Cultural Dialogue To participate for this event, journalists must submit an article or a series of articles which tackles, directly or indirectly, the theme of “cultural dialogue". Applicants can enter the competition with only one article/article series per year.
17. Marine Scholarship Program This scholarship is for students from coastal developing countries to pursue a Master's degree in specific marine-related programs. These scholarships are awarded based on academic standing and whether an applicant meets the Program's objectives and priorities.
Aegis-Schiller association offers you an option to study 6 / 8 months in Mumbai and one semester of 6/4 months at any one of Schiller’s eight campuses, based in Florida (USA), London (UK), Heidelberg (GERMANY), Paris and Strasbourg (FRANCE), Madrid (SPAIN), Leysin and Engelberg (SWITZERLAND). The study leads to an MBA or MIM or MBA International Business, MS in computer Engineering, MBA IT.
19. Canadian Francophone Scholarship Program Students from developing countries who wish to pursue university or college studies are invited to apply for this scholarship. Interested candidates can apply for different levels: undergraduate, master or doctoral level or at the college level.
20. Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships at Purdue University, Indiana, USA Purdue University, Indiana, USA has MS and PhD research assistantships and van Eck scholarships for highly qualified applicants. Candidates should have well developed quantitative skills and knowledge and experience in the biological sciences.
21. Dorothy Hodgkin PhD Studentship, University of Warwick, UK Warwick Medical School is pleased to offer a MRC Dorothy Hodgkin Ph.D. studentship in collaboration with Imperial School of Medicine to commence in November 2007. The studentship is available for a period of three years, and includes payment of tuition fees of £12,600 and a postgraduate stipend.
22. Otago PhD Scholarships, University of Otago, New Zealand This Scholarship is offered by the University of Otago for PhD study in any subject. An emolument of $20,000 per annum, plus tuition fees (at the NZ student level), and costs incurred in the production of two hard bound theses.
23. PhD Studentships in Cell Biology of Cancer, The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, UK Studentships are funded for four years, starting in October 2008. Each student receives a non-taxable stipend of £14,900 in the first year, with annual increments thereafter, as well as their university matriculation fees.
24. Industry funded PhD at Newcastle University, UK The student must have obtained a first-class Honours degree or MSc, and have the ability to perform original research. Any additional living costs while visiting NXP will be supported at a level of €600 per month, plus the cost of travel between Newcastle and Leuven will be provided.
25. PhD Studentship at University of Bristol - UK A PhD studentship is available to start in December 07/Jan 08. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to work independently and analytically.
The doctoral Program aims to prepare researchers and professionals with broad training in the foundations of informatics as well as applications to a variety of cutting-edge systems and disciplines.
27. Postdoctoral Position in System Biology at CSIRO Applications are invited for post doctoral fellowship available at the JM Rendel laboratories in the Division of Livestock Industries, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Rockhampton, Australia. This position is open to international applicants and offers an opportunity for recent PhD graduates/young scientists to work in a rapidly emerging field of systems genetics and systems biology with internationally reputed group(s).
