Under the supervision of the UNFPA Country Representative, the overall responsibility of the Technical Adviser is to provide technical assistance to the Central Census Office (Bureau Central de Recensement

- BCR) of Burundi to maintain state-of-the- art scientific and internationally recognized standards in all processes of the 2008 Population and Housing Census of Burundi and to support further development of national capacities in the demographic analysis and data dissemination.

Qualifications And Experience Required

  • Advanced university degree in population and development with strong multidisciplinary technical expertise in economics/population studies/social sciences.
  • At least eight years experience in the organization and conduct of population and housing censuses in developing countries
  • Fluency in French and English, ability to draft sound technical documents in French and demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
