Vredeseilanden (VECO) is a Belgian NGO with a mission to increase
the food security of rural populations in 12 countries in Africa,
Latin America and Asia by focusing on rural economic processes in
the field of sustainable agriculture.
VECO contributes to the realization of the farmers' initiatives through its focus on the organizational support and institutional development of local farmers organizations, in combination with advocacy strategies aimed at enhancing the inclusion of gender and interculturality in all operational activities
These activities include technical, managerial and organisational
development support for:
farmer based research and agricultural extension work,
post harvest storage and processing
production and labeling of specific quality agricultural produce (fair trade, organic,)
setting up of marketing channels and local food networks.
Have a pertinent experience (minimum five years) in the area of
development cooperation and agriculture, preferably in Uganda
Have several years of management experience in a broad sense
(finances, personnel, programmes, networking,…)
Ability to coach and motivate a team of around ten experienced and qualified staff members
Holder of a university degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of participative methodologies
Willing to travel extensively within the country and the region
An emphatic personality, able to inspire trust, open and
Creative, innovative and strategic thinker
Feeling for interculturality and diversity management
Affinity with the NGO sector is essential
Fluency in English is required and good knowledge of Dutch and
French is an advantage
Identify with VECO's mission and vision
A senior level position in a Belgian NGO, known for its innovative projects
