Program Advisor (Agriculture & Natural Resources), Mercy

Mercy Corps Uganda has been registered as an international organization able to work in Uganda since July.

Mercy Corps has expanded its operations in Pader District to implement a Food Security Program for IDPs in four (4) Transitional Resettlement Sites.

The program focuses on improving food security through investing in agricultural, enhancing livelihoods through cash for work and improving water and sanitation.

Knowledge and Experience

This position requires a Bachelor or Master's Degree in Agriculture / Natural Resources Management or an agricultural or NRM related subject.

At least 5 years of relevant experience focused in the management of development programs involving rural communities to promote sustainable development.

Experience in project management related to agriculture, NRM, community mobilization and training is required.

Administrative capacity and planning skills to manage a small team of national staff.

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written.

This position requires excellent command of English.

This post requires a high computer literacy with a full knowledge of office applications.

    Living Conditions/Environmental Conditions:

    Pader District has basic living conditions (no running water, power by generator) and has in the past been insecure.

    The town is small but lively and there are many other INGOs with expatriate staff based in the town. The Mercy Corps office has an internet connection.
