    Minimum Qualification/Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent), preferably in Geographic Information Systems, computer science, or related field; Undergraduate degree in natural sciences, land surveying, or computer science.

  • At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in Information planning and management, at least four years of that experience at the international level;

  • Theoretical knowledge of ESRI based networked GIS. Practical experience and implementation of ArcGIS Desktop software and ArcIMS, ArcSDE server solutions. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL, Oracle and C++ programming

  • Strong Remote Sensing background including advanced image processing techniques and recent experience in satellite based image analysis incorporating raster/vector data model integration

  • Familiarity with Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI);

  • Previous field experience applying geospatial technology in transitional and post-conflict countries. Recent country experience in Sudan is highly preferred

  • Knowledge of or experience with threat/conflict analysis, security sector, DDR, Arms Reduction/Control, and/or post-conflict recovery programming.

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

  • Excellent English writing and oral skills

  • Fluency in one or more official UN languages desirable. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred

  • Excellent liaison, co-ordination, and planning skills

  • Previous experience in the development and execution of capacity building materials and training programs for both international and national counterparts
