Advanced university degree (Master's Degree) preferably in political or social science, international studies, public administration, economics, or other relevant field.
A combination of relevant academic background (at least a first level university degree id est Bachelor's degree or equivalent) and extensive relevant professional experience in a related area may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in information management for humanitarian assistance;
Programming knowledge and experience of database development and management;
Practical knowledge of standard soft ware packages (MS FrontPage, Access, PowerPoint);
Experience working in a diverse team with varying levels of technical expertise;
Excellent inter-personal and general communication skills;
Ability to work with minimum supervision in a multi-cultural environment;
Fluency in written and spoken French (essential) and English.
Desirable qualifications include:
Experience working for an operational UN Agency or NGO;
Knowledge of GIS (ArcView/MapInfo/Idrisi);
Programming knowledge of HTML and other web based skills;
Experience in humanitarian emergencies in the field and project management or project supervision experience;
Knowledge of the Great Lakes region.
