Duration Fixed Term: 3 years

Minimum Requiremnts

Candidates should meet the following:

  • Advanced University Degree in Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development or related field
  • Ten years of relevant experience in policy analysis and development, particularly in the livestock sector in developing and/or countries in transition
  • Working knowledge of English

    Selection Criteria

    Candidates will be assessed against the following:

  • Extent and relevance of experience in policy analysis and formulation, ideally in the livestock-sector
  • Extent of experience in leadership, management and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams, and with negotiating with senior government officials, international agencies and multilateral financing institutions
  • Extent of experience in project formulation and knowledge of funding requirements of major multilateral and bilateral funding agencies
  • Level and quality of analytical skills as demonstrated through publication record in refereed, professional journals
  • Extent of working experience in developing and/or countries in transition and in IGAD countries in particular
  • Quality of oral and written communication skills on technical and policy issues, in English
  • Extent of knowledge of FAO activities, structure and procedures
