Job Title: Procurement Officer - (GFATM) (Int Post)

Contract Type: ALD 3

Supervisor: Programme Coordinator, GFATM

Post Duration: One year (with possible extension)

Qualifications, competencies and skills:

Technical expertise:

  • Familiarity with UNDP programme execution modalities, rules and regulations is a definite asset. The ability to demonstrate very fast learning for such procedures a necessity in the absence of such knowledge;
  • experience in fast moving goods/health supply systems an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of tools, procedures and international standards for the purchase of goods and services within the context of development support programs;
  • Knowledge of UNDP administrative and financial management procedures is highly desirable;
  • Previous experience with the Global Fund will be a distinct advantage


  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with partners;
  • Ability to establish priorities and plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under his/her supervision;
  • Ability to work in an open team environment where peer management is a key ingredient for achieving targets;
  • Ability to draft clear concise reports or rationale for procurement decisions on key issues
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Excellent command of the English language with quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team with sensitivity to the situation whilst being results oriented

    Academic background:

  • Masters degree in Business Management, Public Health or Administration
  • Additional training in pharmaceuticals management a distinct advantage;
  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience in public sector procurement at the international level; previous background in multilateral cooperation (UN system, NGOs, Government Agencies, international suppliers);
  • Work experience preferably in Malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS and other public health programmes;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications. Knowledge of Atlas is an advantage
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic an asset.
