UNESCO - Natural Sciences Programme Director Job Opportunities in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction in the Natural Sciences Programme;
  • Ensure that the Natural Sciences Programme’s management structure are effective including succession plans;
  • Ensure that all Natural Sciences policy papers are developed and provide follow up activities as may be required;
  • Serve as Secretary to the Natural Sciences Programme and Expert committee;
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Natural Sciences from a recognized and accredited institution
  • Experience Possess a minimum of ten (10) years continuous experience in the Natural Sciences profession with a reputable organization;
  • Have at least four (4) years’ experience in an equivalent or comparable senior management position dealing with leadership or management responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated proven ability and results in heading a comparable natural sciences portfolio of a national or international character;
  • Demonstrated proven leadership and managerial capabilities including financial management within a reputable institution;
  • Demonstrated good industry knowledge of the Natural Sciences sector including ongoing reforms;
    Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the formulation and/or implementation of international Natural Sciences agreements/conventions/protocols;
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of government legislations and policies affecting the Natural Sciences sector
  • Demonstrated relative international exposure in international meetings and processes;
  • Demonstrated good experience in national policy formulation processes;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge/experience in the formation of institutional partnerships/collaborations frameworks;
  • Demonstrated competence in project management (design, proposal writing and/or implementation)

    UNESCO - Deputy Director of Programme Environment ob Opportunities in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the day to day operations of the Environment and Bio-diversity Division and achievement of its functions and objectives;
  • Recommend to the Programme Director effective processes, systems and internal controls in the Division including succession plans;
  • Coordinate the formulation, execution and communication of UNESCO related Environment and Bio-diversity Division policies, strategies, and plans and ensure their evaluation thereof;
  • Prepare relevant Environment and Bio-diversity Division policy and technical papers andmprovide follow up activities as may be required;
  • Mobilize technical support for the execution of the Division’s programmes and activities
  • Serve as the focal point of the Environment and Bio-diversity Division;
  • Be responsible for stakeholder management dealing with the Environment and Bio-diversity Division;
  • Facilitate and support the activities of the Natural Science Programme and Expert committee; and Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from a recognized and accredited institution
  • Experience Possess a minimum of nine (9) years continuous experience in the environment management profession of a reputable organization;
  • Have at least three (3) years’ experience in an equivalent or comparable senior management position dealing with leadership or management responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated proven ability and results in managing a comparable environmental portfolio of a national or international character;
  • Demonstrated good industry knowledge of the environment sector including ongoing reforms;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in the formulation and/or implementation of international environmental agreements/conventions/protocols;
  • Demonstrated relative international exposure in international meetings and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in
    national environmental policy formulation and implementation processes
  • Demonstrated working knowledge/experience in the formation of institutional partnerships/collaborations frameworks;
  • Demonstrated competence in project management (design, proposal writing and/or implementation)

    UNESCO - Chief Corporate Communications Officer Job Opportunities in Kenya

    Duties

  • Coordinate the day to day business of the Corporate Communications Division and ensure the achievement of its functions and objectives;
  • Prepare the annual budget, plans and performance contracts of the Division
  • Participate in the formulation, execution and communication of the Commission’s corporate communication policies, strategies, and plans;
  • Establish and ensure the Divisions, processes and systems are effective;
  • Ensure the preparation of communication materials and provide follow up activities as may be required.
  • Provide regular communication to the Secretary General/CEO on corporate communication matters
  • Coordinate publicity activities for public stakeholders forums to effectively enhance the
  • Commission’s overall visibility and brand image
  • Advise on the implementation of the best media and communication practices;
  • Ensure positive and best coverage for corporate events, projects and activities including writing articles and features;
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields namely; Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Information Sciences, Journalism, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized and accredited institution; and
  • A post graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Information Sciences or Journalism from a recognized and accredited institution
  • Experience Possess a minimum of seven (7) years continuous experience in the communication profession of a reputable organization;
  • Have at least two (2) years’ experience in an equivalent or comparable middle management position dealing with leadership and management responsibilities of a corporate communication unit;
  • Demonstrated good industry knowledge and experience of corporate communication processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of existing legislations including ongoing reforms in the communication sector;
  • Demonstrated working experience with budgeting and financial management
  • Possess good knowledge of corporate communication operation frameworks of an organization
