UNESCO - Legal Officer Careers in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Initiate the formulation of the Commission’s Legal policies, strategies, and plans and coordinate their evaluation thereof
  • Establish effective Legal administrative structures, processes and systems
  • Advice on adherence and Legal compliance with the national laws and international statutes;
  • Proactively guide and advice the Commission on all legal matters affecting its functions including new legislations;
  • Conduct legal research; write legal opinions and memoranda on matters relevant to the Commission as required,
  • Advise and participate in the negotiation of contracts, partnerships, memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and agreements generally,
  • Provide regular communication to the Secretary General/CEO and the Board on key Legal technical matters
  • Handle legal matters affecting or that may affect the Commission, including representation in courts, hearings and where else necessary
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university,
  • Diploma in Law (from Kenya School of Law);
  • Possession of a LLM, or Master’s degree in Governance or law related discipline will be an added advantage,
  • Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
  • Possess a current practicing certificate,
  • Possession of a CPS (K) and registration with the Institute of Certified
  • Public Secretaries of Kenya will be an added advantage.
  • Experience Possess a minimum of nine (9) years of continuous experience in the legal profession three (3) of which should be within the corporate legal services Department of a reputable organization;
  • Demonstrated proven ability and results in managing a corporate legal portfolio;
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting, interpreting and executing legal instruments;
  • Have strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, Proficiency in computer Applications.

    UNESCO - Chief ICT Officer Careers in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day to day business of the ICT Division to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the ICT Division;
  • Prepare the annual budget, plans and performance contracts of the Division
  • Participate in the formulation, execution and communication of the Commission’s ICT policies, strategies, and plans;
  • Analyze user needs to identify technical requirements and provide software based solutions;
  • Design, manage and update the Commission’s website and ensure its security thereof;
  • Provide user support, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, or other network and system problems.
  • Coordinate tests, repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment and associated peripherals where necessary;
  • Assist in the development of ICT related specifications and software solutions
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields namely; Computer Science/Information Communication Technology, or other ICT
  • A Diploma or Higher Diploma in ICT from a recognized and accredited institution; and Possess certification in professional ICT software related skills either in; data base management; website development; software development or systems engineering or any other software related fields.
  • Experience Possess a minimum of seven (7) years continuous experience in the ICT profession of a reputable organization;
  • Have at least two (2) years’ experience in an equivalent or comparable middle management position dealing with leadership and management responsibilities of an ICT unit;
  • Proven track record in the design and development of software based solutions;
  • Proven track record in design, development and management
    of functioning websites
  • Possess industry knowledge of ICT processes and procedures.

    UNESCO - Education Programme Director Careers in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the day to day operations and the overall achievement of the functions and objectives of the Education Programme;
  • Ensure the development and implementation of the annual operational plans, performance contract and budget for the Education Programme;
  • Ensure effective administrative structures, processes, systems and internal controls in the Education Programme;
  • Be responsible for coordinating the formulation, execution and communication of the Education policies, strategies, and plans and their evaluation thereof;
  • Provide leadership and direction in the Education Programme;
  • Ensure that the Education Programme’s management structure are effective including succession plans;
  • Ensure that all Education policy papers are developed and provide follow up activities as may be required;
  • Serve as the focal point of the Education Programme and provide regular communication on technical, financial, administrative and partnerships matters related to the Education Programme;
  • Be responsible for stakeholder management and the promotion of partnerships and collaborations in the Education Programme;
  • Serve as Secretary to the Education Programme and Expert committee; and
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Education from a recognized and accredited institution
  • Experience Possess a minimum of ten (10) years continuous experience in the Education profession with a reputable organization;
  • Have at least four (4) years’ experience in an equivalent or comparable senior management position dealing with leadership or management responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated proven ability and results in heading a comparable education related portfolio of a national or international character;
  • Demonstrated proven leadership and managerial capabilities including financial management within a reputable institution;
  • Demonstrated good industry knowledge of the Education sector including ongoing reforms;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the formulation and/or implementation of international Education agreements/conventions/protocols;
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of government legislations and policies affecting the Education sector
  • Demonstrated relative international exposure in international meetings and processes;
  • Demonstrated good experience in national policy formulation processes;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge/experience in the formation of institutional partnerships/collaborations frameworks;
  • Demonstrated competence in project management (design, proposal writing and/or implementation)
