Murang'a High, Pioneer Top County List in KCSE Results

There was song and dance at Murang’a High and Pioneer schools yesterday after they emerged position one and two respectively in Murang’a county in the 2013 KCSE examinations.


Pioneer school, which is owned by Equity Bank chairman Peter Munga, produced the best candidate in the county, Walter Waithaka, who scored a mean grade of A of 86.6 points. The Maragua school was position four nationally in the private school category.

Ndonga Vincent from Murang’a High scored an A of 86.5 points emerging position two in the county, followed by Mike Mwangi who scored from Pioneer School who scored an A of 86.46 points.

Other celebrations were witnessed in Murang’a town after a son of a newspaper vendor, Azimu Zafrin, emerged position six in the county with a mean score of 85.6.

Murang’a High produced the best six candidates in the county and was position four nationally in CRE subject. Teachers, students and some parents converged at the school to celebrate the good results.

Previously, Murang'a High School, which is in the national school category, has registered dismal performance. Pioneer School emerged position five in Mathematics countrywide. However, no student from Murang'a county was ranked among the top 100 in Kenya.

Residents expressed concerns after it emerged that no female student was ranked in the top 10 in the county. Murang'a county was ranked position 11 nationally. - The Star March 4, 2014

I would like my son to join your school next year, he got 344 last year KCPE, and went to Dedan Kimathi High School Nyeri County. Unfortunately there is a lot of in-fighting there.
