No ranking as Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi releases KCPE results

Kenya: Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has released the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education ( KCPE) examination results.

This year’s results were released in a different way in that the top canditates and schools were not announced.

This came after the Education Ministry abolished the schools and candidates ranking to reduce unfair competition, stigmatization and cheating.

The highest cases of cheating was mainly in the English and Kiswahili papers.

Kaimenyi also warned school Heads from demanding KCPE and KCSE examination fees for 2015 registration.

33 percent of those who joined primary school dropped out before getting to class 8.

He lauded 15 counties for recording zero incidences of cheating, among them Lamu, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Siaya, Garissa, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Kirinyaga.

The candidates can access the results by sending their index numbers through SMS to 22252, the results will also be available on the Examination council's website www.knec.ac.ke from January 1, 2015.
