What are Smart Glasses?

Smart glasses are a type of wearable device that utilizes AR (augmented reality) to add digital displays to glasses. Most smart glasses are meant to be an extension of your smartphone, displaying notifications and allowing you to perform quick actions similar to a smartwatch. Cameras can make features like first-person video possible, adding eye tracking to add more elements of control. Additional actions may be performed using voice commands through a connected virtual assistant like Google Assistant or Amazon's Alexa.

Depending on the style of smart glasses, displays can be projected onto the lens using a small projector or a tiny screen visible out of the corner of the user's eye.

Google Glass Enterprise Edition - Smart glasses developed by Google in 2013, which, after development, was canceled, came back for hands-on training purposes 2017.

Focals by North - Smart glasses created by North that include the Amazon Alexa voice assistant.

Spectacles by Snapchat - Proprietary smart glasses that connect with the Snapchat social network to capture first-person photos and videos.
