South Eastern University Legal Officer 1 Grade 12 (1 Position) Kenya Vacancies


Job Summary and Responsibility

  • Assist other departments in preparing replies to legal notices in accordance with the law as need be to avoid further compromises;
  • Represent the University in court hearings, or attest or commission documents on behalf of the university when they occur;
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as required, providing legal facts to various legal cases affecting the University;
  • Draw, draft and/ or prepare legal documents pertaining to the University’s transactions such as transfers, leases, mortgages, charges, memorandum of understandings or agreements for purposes of facilitating these transactions as they happen;
  • Assist in drafting legal documents pertaining to University financial transactions when agreements are made to ensure all processes are done within the law;
  • Regularly monitor the performance of the contracted panel of lawyers to ensure all cases of the institution are handled appropriately;
  • Advice the University Management on legal issues and best practice in regards to legal issues and for compliance to the law.

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Must be a holder of LLB degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
  • Must have a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law (KSL)
  • Must be registered with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising licence.
  • Three (3) years working experience.
  • Must be computer literate.

    South Eastern University Legal Assistant Grade 7/8 (1 Position) Kenya Vacancies

    Job Summary and Responsibility

  • Conduct legal research on assigned legal issues in the institution to facilitate the provision of accurate and timely information to management;
  • Prepare preliminary legal documents/instruments to facilitate compliance with legal standards and procedures;
  • Review legal documents and papers and advise on their suitability in compliance with established regulations and procedures;
  • Analyze preliminary study from the research on assigned legal issues to make preliminary decisions and drafts to be reviewed by the Senior Legal Officer;

  • LLB degree from a recognised institution.

    South Eastern University Registrar, Planning and Development (1 position) Kenya Vacancies

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor physical infrastructure, planning and development, maintenance and repair of existing facilities.
  • Coordinate and collect evidence for performance targets and preparation of the division’s performance contract quarterly reports.
  • Design and conduct surveys to obtain feedback from key stakeholders such as students, staff, alumni, research partners, public and private sector on satisfaction levels, service standards and educational needs.
  • Develop and administer the departmental budget.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review and implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Communicate, follow-up and implement decisions of Management and Management Committees.
  • Coordinate and implement development projects and prepare capital project plans and management reports.

    Requirements

  • For appointment to this grade, one must have:-
  • An earned Ph.D.
    degree from a recognized University with five (5) years of work experience, three (3) of which as Deputy Registrar Scale 14 or its equivalent.
    Or
  • Masters Degree in a relevant field plus CPS (K) or equivalent professional qualification with ten (10) years administrative experience, three (3) of which as Deputy Registrar Scale 14 or its equivalent.
  • A first degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Architecture Engineering.
  • Be registered with relevant professional body, preferably a full member of the same.
  • Be ICT Competent.
  • Additional professional qualification and experience in handling of planning and development projects will be an added advantage.

    Note: Shortlisted candidates for the position of Registrar Grade 15 ,Planning and Development will be required to have current clearance certificates from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Criminal Investigation department (CID) and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

    South Eastern University Assistant Farm Manager Grade 12 (1 Position) Kenya Vacancies

    Job Summary and Responsibility

  • Develop proper internal control measures to safeguard the University resources as well as minimize on spoilage of farm equipment and produce;
  • Train and supervise junior staff in the farm and to ensure human capital in the unit provides optimum output and achieves desired results;
  • Supervise subordinates to ensure that duties are performed as planned and ensure that set targets are achieved;
  • Coordinate all the operations in the farm; to ensure there are adequate inputs and that machinery and tools to be used are in good condition;
  • Allocate field duties to the subordinate staff by preparing and updating work plans to ensure optimum utilization of staff under farm;
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment, structures and machinery to ensure operations in the farm are carried out optimally;
  • Ensure safety in all staff operations by ensuring adherence to safety regulations when carrying out farm operations;

    Requirements for Appointment

  • A Master’s Degree in Agriculture or its equivalent.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or its equivalent from a recognized University with nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Farm Assistant I.
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in General Agriculture or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
  • Must be computer literate.
