Sightsavers seeks to recruit an experienced Project Coordinator, based in Masindi, to provide leadership and operational oversight for the implementation of the EU Economic Empowerment of YWDs Project and the Annual Operational Plan.

The project is being implemented in five targeted districts with the aim of increasing the employability of YWDs and contributing to poverty reduction.

Responsibilities

  • The Project Coordinator will ensure that the EU EEYWD (Economic Empowerment of Youth with Disabilities) project is planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated to the highest possible standards and in line with Sightsavers and donor procedures.
  • Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for providing timely support and developing and maintaining an effective partnership with implementing partners; District Local Governments, the NUDIPU, NOWODU and UNAB as well as vocational training institutions and other relevant government institutions.
  • You will have strong spoken and written English and hold a Batchelor’s degree in a relevant field (Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education or similar) and experience in all aspects of programme and project management, ideally gained within an NGO/ INGO environment. You will be knowledgeable on gender and disability issues and be able to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts and reports.
  • Demonstrable experience in the field of economic empowerment, rural development and livelihoods is also essential. The successful candidate will have excellent project management, partnership management and team leadership skills and well as strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) and the ability to spend up to 50% of his/ her time in the field to support partners.
