1. Head of Support Services


Reports to: Senior Pastor

Duty Station: PBC Westlands, Nairobi

Job summary:
The primary responsibility of the Head of Support Services is to lead the operationalization of the
strategic outcomes of Parklands Baptist Church’s (PBC) by ensuring the effective, timely and coordinated management of activities and functions that contribute to the achievement of the PBC
Vision, Mission and Strategy.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall operations of the church through implementation, maintenance and
    management of systems throughout the church.
  • Provide policy advisory for PBC leadership and respective organs in all operational areas of the
    church.
  • Oversee operational functions to ensure they are run effectively and efficiently so that
    departments and ministries run smoothly and with business continuity.
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of the administration budget of the church.
  • Monitor and authorize all operational financial requisitions of the various church functions.
  • Present periodic status updates and operational health checks of PBC operations to the senior
    and associate pastors as well as the entire church leadership.
  • Engage various stakeholders including leaders, vendors, church membership and the external
    public in a way that provides opportunities for PBC to leverage its resources.
  • Establish and ‘champion’ an integrated Performance Management and Development programme across PBC to monitor, measure and support staff to achieve the objectives in the strategic plan.
  • Liaise with PBC church secretary and the Policy Committee to ensure policies, protocols and
    processes of all PBC operations and departments are developed, implemented, maintained, reviewed and updated (as and when required).
  • Oversee provision of procurement and logistical support for operations within the church.
  • Act as a contact person for the Church Council, Board of Trustees and Pastors and Deacons
    Board to mainstream the boards’ decisions within the operations staff of PBC.
  • In collaboration with the IME and the Lead pastor, supervise the collection and collation of
    relevant data and develop the quarterly reports for presentation to members by the senior pastor.
  • Establish an inclusive culture within the Westlands campus, Eastgate campus and those based in
    the mission stations that develops a shared understanding of the organization’s vision and mission.

    Person Specification:
  • Must be born again, having a personal relationship with Christ and be a regular and active member
    of a recognized Church congregation of like faith as PBC.
  • Ability to effectively operationalize organizational strategy with high professional standards and
    integrity.
  • Excellent judgment and decision making skills with leadership capacity development
  • Proficient in Finance and Administration.
  • Ability to oversee projects from beginning to end.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess conflict management skills.

    Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Management.
  • Master’s in Business Administration / Management is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a relevant multi-disciplinary managerial position preferably
    in a protestant church setting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a very
    demanding environment.

    Working Conditions
    Work may entail irregular and/or long hours as need arises. Interaction is with Church leadership, staff,
    volunteers, members and congregants and other PBC clients and key publics. Sunday is a working day.

    2. Executive Driver

    Reports: Procurement and Logistics Officer

    Duty Station: PBC Westlands, Nairobi

    Job summary:
    Facilitate movement of senior pastoral team to various destinations along with other related duties.

    Key duties and responsibilities:
    1. Movement of pastoral leadership (and VIPs) to various destinations as assigned including
    airport transfers.
    2. Dispatch/delivery of mail and documents specific to the senior pastoral team.
    3. Ensure that the senior pastoral vehicles are in pristine condition and roadworthy.
    4. Responsible for managing fuel card top-up for senior pastoral vehicles.
    5. Regular updates to the supervisor.
    6. Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have a personal relationship with Christ and be a regular and active member of a
    recognized Church congregation of like faith as PBC.
  • Thorough understanding of traffic rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a
    multicultural environment.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with diplomacy and tact.
  • Demonstrate outstanding professional competence in work performance and results.
    Education and Work Experience
  • Minimum KCSE certificate.
  • Driving trade test (Grades I, II, III respectively).
  • Defensive driving course from a recognized institution is preferred.
  • Valid driving license (PSV desirable.)
  • A valid certificate of good conduct.
  • Must have attended a First Aid Course lasting not less than 1 Week from a recognized
    institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience with at least 3 years driving senior manager or members of
    the diplomatic corps.

    Working Conditions
    Possibility of working unplanned extra hours away from home and also during holidays and
    weekends. Exposure to road hazards. Need for professional confidentiality is key. Sunday is a
    normal working day.
