Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job holder shall be responsible for rational
application of appropriate institutional and government-approved supplies and
procurement procedures that ensures optimum utilization of available resources

Duties and responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with established and internationally recognised procurement procedures.
  • Carrying out inventory control, procurement, custody, physical distribution, utilization;
  • Preparing procurement plans and budgeting;
  • Maintaining database of supplies and suppliers ;
  • Compiling Tender documents
  • Stock-taking and disposal of unserviceable and obsolete stores in the appropriate manner;
  • Generating procurement reports;
  • Scrutinizing requisitions;
  • Maintaining movable and immovable assets register;
  • Planning for the supplies requirements in the Institute and formulating supplies
    policies and guidelines for the Institute;
  • Participate in sourcing, supplier evaluation/rating, inviting offers, negotiations
    and contracting;
  • Assisting in reviewing procurement policies and make recommendations; establishing of internal control systems procedures including credit and risk management;
  • Carrying out market research into new and alternative sources and
  • Providing support to end users on procurement guidelines.

    Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelors degree in any of the following :- Commerce , Business Administration,
    (Supplies Management option), Economics, Procurement And Supplies
    Management, Marketing or their equivalent from a recognized Institution;
  • Registration with KISM and Licensed to practice;
  • Member of Certified Institute of Purchasing and Supplies (CIPS).
  • Minimum of Three years post experience ;
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on
    Leadership and integrity.

    Core competencies:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity
    to and respect for diversity;
  • Have an understanding of the structure and functions of the public sector and;
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions
  • Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.
  • Be computer literate.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Officer, the job holder shall be responsible for
    rational application of appropriate institutional and government-approved supplies and
    procurement procedures that ensures optimum utilization of available resources.

    Duties and responsibilities
  • Inventory control, custody, physical distribution, utilization verification, and disposal
    of stores;
  • In-charge of the stores.
  • Ensuring proper storage
  • Stock-taking and disposal of unserviceable and obsolete stores in accordance with
    laid down regulations.
  • Identify shortages and losses before recommending any appropriate action.
  • Maintaining database of the stocks
  • Supervising and co-ordinating the day to day activities of the stores;and
  • Ensuring that public procurement procedures are adhered.

    Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelors’ degree in Economics or Commerce (Supplies Management Option) or
    Business Administration from a recognized university.
  • Diploma in Supplies Management III (final) or its equivalent from a recognized
    institution.
  • Registration with KISM
  • Certified Institute of Purchasing and Supplies (CIPS).
  • Licensed to practice
