Grants for Empowering Marginalised Communities in Sri Lanka

NTT Announces Call for Proposals for Empowering Marginalised Communities and Vulnerable Groups - Sri Lanka. The Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (NTT) has announced a call for proposals under ‘Empowering marginalised communities and vulnerable groups across Sri Lanka.

Objectives

This call for proposals seeks to strengthen civil society and community efforts that aim to make a contribution towards the socio-economic empowerment of vulnerable communities across the country.

Type of projects/activities that may be supported include, but are not restricted to:

  • Support to establish/strengthen cooperatives and provide assistance. In particular, increase women’s participation in entities such as, fishermen association, farmers association, rural development societies, etc.
  • Support infrastructure development, such as agro wells and water pumping equipment to increase access to water.
  • Promote eco-friendly agriculture practices.
  • Promote the entrepreneurial capacity of beneficiaries.
  • Activities to promote technological advancements to increase productivity in the agricultural and fisheries sectors and strengthen market linkages, value chain development, post-harvest technology, generate off farm development, etc.
  • Support activities to create community awareness on land rights and land related policies.
  • Activities to ensure feasible income sources through the introduction of new business models to create livelihood and employment opportunities for families in the plantation sector.

    Funding Information

  • NTT will award grants ranging from LKR 3,000,000 to LKR 5,000,000.
  • The anticipated grant duration is 12 months.

    Eligibility Criteria

  • Only one application per organisation can be submitted.
  • Eligible grant recipients include duly registered community-based organisations (CBOs), local nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), local not-for-profit organisations, duly registered youth groups, federations, cooperatives, etc.
  • Applicants should demonstrate prior experience in implementing similar activities.
  • Organisations without a valid registration will not be considered.
  • Sub-granting is not allowed.
  • Grant applications from individuals will not be accepted.
  • NTT will not consider applications received from government institutions/departments and organisations with political affiliations.

    Apply by 20th June.
