British Council Fully Funded South Asia Leadership Training Scheme; The British Council in collaboration with academics from the University of Brighton, Newcastle University and Imperial College London has announced a Leadership Training Scheme (South Asia).

The Leadership Training Scheme (South Asia) provides emerging research leaders with the opportunity to develop their leadership and application for funding skills and ability to manage large projects at a regional/global level

The Leadership Training Scheme is part of the Water Initiative South Asia (WISA) project to promote science and research collaboration between the UK and countries in South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka).

Components

The Leadership Training Scheme (South Asia) is comprised of two components: a four-day workshop and a mentorship and monitoring phase.

  • The four-day leadership training workshop will be held in Dubai, UAE, on 9-12 December 2019. Participants will be introduced to a framework for research leadership which encompasses the roles of team leadership and operational and strategic leadership in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • The mentorship and monitoring phase will take place for three months after the workshop where participants are assigned a mentor to assist with implementing a project of their choice using the knowledge learnt from the leadership training workshop.

    Eligibility Criteria

  • Mid-career researchers with experience in managing projects or being involved with delivering a project at a national or regional level.
  • Based at a university/research institute/NGO in South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka).
  • Have a background in ‘Health, Water Quality and Sanitation’ or ‘Water Management’. Be proficient in English to Level 6 in IELTS (certificate not required).
