You can make a difference:
As the Director – Programmes you will manage programmatic/thematic strategists and provide leadership and strategic support to the programmes team; lead programme design, development and implementation and, take responsibility for ensuring minimum standards for programming are met.

Be responsible for growing the programme portfolio and in support of high quality programme implementation, will ensure effective coordination and collaboration between campaigns, humanitarian and operations teams in country and the broader Confederation and, develop and support partnerships with national, regional and global civil society towards meeting the goals outlined in the Oxfam Country Strategy for Kenya.

You will have:
  • An Undergraduate/Post graduate in a development related field and/or at least 5 years experience in a similar senior programme management role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in development programs, humanitarian response and advocacy and campaigning.
  • Politically astute, with a good understanding of key external organisations, how they operate and make decisions, and the country development context.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of creating a partner-led operational environment, supporting partner organisations to achieve direct impact and results relating to Oxfam’s objectives.
  • Influencing experience in working with donors, fundraising and donor compliance and proven ability to develop organisational networks and associations.

    4. OI Regional Logistics Coordinator Jobs in Kenya
    Shaping a stronger Oxfam for people living in poverty.

    Oxfam strives to have affiliates in southern countries that can raise their own funds, run their own programs, make their own alliances with local people’s movements, and lobby their own governments and businesses.

    The Horn, East & Central Africa Region (HECA) is one of the largest regions where Oxfam works. All ten countries in the region are currently affected by natural and/or man-made humanitarian crises, and this is having an impact on Oxfam’s role in the region.

    In addition to country specific Oxfam strategies in each of the 10 countries for the period 2015-2019, Oxfam also has a statement of strategic intent for the region, reflecting the key strategic priorities and objectives for the entire region.

    They include prevention and response to humanitarian crises; enabling women in HECA to claim their social, economic and political rights; supporting the development of civil society, and the improvement of accountable, democratic governance; and supporting the improved resilience of those with vulnerable livelihoods to climate change, insecurity and other risks.

    The HECA region also hosts the Pan-Africa Programme.

    Team Purpose / Background
    As part of the new regional structure for Oxfam, the purpose of the Regional Logistics Coordinator is to support Oxfam and its partner organisations at country and regional level in creating and maintaining the Supply and Logistics capacity and capabilities required to fulfil Oxfam’s development and Humanitarian mandate in preparedness and response to emergencies and to ensure that, where necessary, additional support can be provided from Regional and/or Global level.

    Job Dimension
  • Influences the development of regional humanitarian strategy with a focus on operational preparedness, ensures and supports the implementation and delivery of humanitarian programs
  • The role is expected to manage significant internal (including - but not limited to - the GHT and Region) and external relationships, which has significant influence on the way logistics function and Oxfam are perceived both internally and externally
  • The role is expected to maximize the dissemination of logistics standards, policies and tools for both humanitarian and development programs, sharing of lessons learnt between countries within the region and as well to other regions of Oxfam and its partners
  • Diverse and complex problem solving, requiring professional knowledge, field experience and an understanding of both development and humanitarian work
  • Advice and problem solving often given over distance with limited information
  • Work patterns are not routine and often high pressure
  • Influences and negotiates with a wide range of people, to bring about required change, and build / manage relationships both within and external to the department. This can include other NGOs, Partners and UN agencies and government

    Contract Length: Fixed term contract for 2 years.

    5. OI Regional Program Quality Lead - HECA Jobs in Kenya

    This role works across the spectrum of long-term development, humanitarian and influencing interventions. The role of the regional Program Quality Lead is firmly founded in Oxfam’s 2020 vision, in which Oxfam becomes a knowledge-driven organization.

    Job dimensions
  • Professional specialist required to manage resources and implement strategy in a distinct area in order to achieve specific goals or deliver a high level specialist advisory service
  • Works with reasonable autonomy within established standards but may be required to review and make improvement
  • Problem solves within agreed parameters requiring considerable information which may be complex
  • High level strategic role requiring in depth experience in focused area of knowledge
  • Provides front line/operational advice to managers and specialists, influences decisions that can affect OI, Oxfam Confederation and Donors
