ACDI/VOCA Dairy Value Chain Director Job Vacancy Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior field-level manager and representative with primary responsibility for coordinating, planning, and implementing technical interventions across the dairy value chain.
  • Support the Chief of Party in all aspects of program management including ensuring integration and coordination across consortium teams and the establishment of a “one team” approach to implementation.
  • Lead design of program interventions that identify and develop new market opportunities that seek to upgrade the potential of the dairy value chain.
  • Ensure that program strategies facilitate strategic, commercially viable partnerships between value chain actors, especially with women and youth.
  • Promote strong relationships with USAID, the Government of Kenya, other donor, multi-lateral, and non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

    Qualifications

  • 10 years’ international experience with successful value chain development projects with significant management responsibility. Familiarity with the dairy value chain in Kenya is required.
  • 10 years’ experience on projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches.
  • Experience working in or providing capacity building services to the private sector is desired.
  • Master’s Degree in a field relevant to agricultural development such as: agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness management or related fields.
  • Willingness to travel required. Applicants may be expected to relocate to regional offices depending on solicitation requirements.
  • Fluency in English required.

    ACDI/VOCA Chief of Party Job Vacancy Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Provide overall strategic vision and leadership for the program to achieve program goals.
  • Manage coordination mechanisms with relevant stakeholders. Serve as the key liaison with HQ, government officials, the private sector, local and international NGOs, implementing partners, and community members.
  • Establish administrative framework to monitor and assure progress toward the goals and objectives of the project.
  • Supervise relevant assessments to identify programmatic needs and future direction. Develop existing and cultivate new program opportunities.
  • Lead and direct the operations and staff.
  • Plan, organize, distribute, and coordinate the flow of work.
  • Ensure clear lines of communications keep staff informed of relevant information and dialog both in the field and from headquarters.
  • Develop and facilitate verbal or written presentations as requested by ACDI/VOCA and USAID.
  • Analyze budgets, review and approve financial reports, and ensure all required regular and ad hoc reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Undertake area assessments to identify needs and future direction. Develop existing and new program opportunities. Assist in program development and proposal preparation as needed.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a COP, Project Director, or similar senior management position for projects and/or the private sector with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.
  • Prior experience leading projects that used the USAID
    value chain, Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P), or Market Systems Development approach is desired.
  • Proven ability to act collaboratively across donor funded projects and build relationships with government and private sector stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in adaptive management following the Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach is desired. 
  • Experience working in or providing capacity building services to the private sector is desired.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to productively interact with a wide range and levels of organizations (government, private sector, NGOs, research institutions).
  • Master’s degree in agricultural economics, economics, or other value-chain-related field or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant agricultural field with an additional 7 years’ experience to the required minimums above.
  • Willingness to travel required.
  • Fluency in English required.

    ACDI/VOCA Gender Specialist Job Vacancy Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Ensure gender mainstreaming across all project activities and ensure the FTF project upholds ACDI/VOCA's commitment to gender equity.
  • Oversee/Conduct project gender analysis of gender relations and develop gender-sensitive messaging and training materials.
  • Deliver trainings on gender-sensitive extension and market approaches to local stakeholders using ACDI/VOCA’s GenderFirst approach.
  • Using results of gender analysis, other program assessments and the USAID/Kenya gender strategy, lead the development and integration of a project gender strategy.
  • Prepare and lead gender-focused training sessions for staff to ensure gender is appropriately addressed in all project activities.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, anthropology, women’s studies, or other related discipline, master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum eight years' experience in food security, nutrition or agriculture, including three years concentrating on gender and development issues.
  • Ability to write coherent and analytical reports is required.
  • Clear understanding of gender roles in Kenya is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, strong negotiation, diplomacy, and team work skills required.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, conducting focus groups and surveys is preferred.
  • Prior experience with USAID projects, procedures, policies, reporting requirements is preferred.
