ACDI/VOCA Nutrition Specialist Careers in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Address priorities for the integration of nutrition into agriculture and value-chain activities.
  • Provide technical assistance and monitoring for nutrition-sensitive agricultural activities and services where and as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with relevant staff in regional offices as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to ACDI/VOCA staff members and partner organization staff in the utilization and management of nutritional training tools.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings on nutrition for staff and beneficiaries, collaborating with other trainers to ensure nutrition is appropriately integrated and addressed in all training.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, international agriculture, food security or other relevant field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience working on large projects focusing on nutrition, hygiene, food security or other related technical areas.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in implementing programs aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of agricultural value chains.
  • Demonstrated history of providing highly effective technical and managerial leadership on projects of similar size and scope.
  • Demonstrated understanding of nutrition-sensitive agriculture concepts.
  • Understanding of Kenyan nutritional and agricultural context.
  • Experience with USAID is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel required. Applicants may be expected to relocate to regional offices depending on solicitation requirements.
  • Fluency in English required.

    ACDI/VOCA M&E Director Careers in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Manages overall monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the program.
  • Ensures effective reporting, data collection, and monitoring systems are in place.
  • Coordinates with program teams to develop and update the Performance Monitoring Plans and works with the donor on its implementation and updating.
  • Ensures M&E quality and standards adhere to guidelines and industry standard good practices.
  • Recommend adjustment of policies and strategies where required.
  • Track and analyze project indicators and other useful statistics and prepare high-quality and timely reports using the recommended formats and communication channels.
  • Organize and facilitate regular staff meetings to share experiences and lessons, and brainstorm ways to apply new learning.

    Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in sociology, statistics, international relations or other relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience including five years directly managing the M&E component of a donor funded project. Prior experience managing the monitoring and evaluation system for a USAID funded Feed the Future activity is preferred.
  • Prior experience with projects that use a facilitative value chain approach is desired
  • Proven experience and skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods, survey design and implementation, statistical data analysis required.
  • Familiarity with applying the Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach to management is desired. 
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects is preferred.
  • Fluency in English required.

    ACDI/VOCA Director of Operations Careers in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee multiple project offices including Nairobi.
  • Develop and refine operational systems and processes, and organize appropriate operations training and orientation systems for all staff.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of operations processes
    to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Assure that the project is in compliance with the most recent USAID and ACDI/VOCA regulations and procedures.
  • ACDI/VOCA policies and USAID regulations.
  • Oversee transaction and procurement activities including those that directly benefit grantees.
  • Ensure the prompt implementation of financial and contractual reviews and approvals for project activity.
  • Supervise the finance, operations, and grants staff.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Economics required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7 years of experience managing similar projects of similar size and scope is desired, of which 5 years was on a USAID funded project.
  • Demonstrated management, administrative, reporting, and representation skills.
  • Willingness to travel required.
  • Fluency in English is required.

    ACDI/VOCA Grains and Horticulture Value Chain Director Careers in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Lead design of program interventions that identify and develop new market opportunities that seek to upgrade the potential of selected grain and horticulture value chains.
  • Develop value chain strategies for working with producers and enterprises to develop their capacity to identify and respond to business opportunities in the selected grain and horticulture value chains.
  • Ensure that program strategies facilitate strategic, commercially viable partnerships between value chain actors, especially within women and youth.
  • Manage a team of technical advisors that provide technical leadership in areas related to improved aggregation, post-harvest handling and storage; market linkages; business enabling environment;
  • Promote strong relationships with USAID, the Government of Kenya, other donor, multi-lateral, and non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

    Qualifications

  • 10 years’ international experience with successful value chain development projects with significant management responsibility. Familiarity with grains and horticulture in Kenya is preferred but not required.
  • 10 years’ experience on projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.
  • Past supervisory experience is required.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches.
  • Experience working in or providing capacity building services to the private sector is desired.
  • Master’s Degree in a field relevant to agricultural development such as: agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness management or related fields.
  • Willingness to travel required. Applicants may be expected to relocate to regional offices depending on solicitation requirements.
  • Fluency in English required.
