World Food Programme Logistics Internships in Kenya


Standard Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transport economics, Engineering or Development Management.Language
  • Language:Fluent in English
  • Experience: Experience in or exposure to international or humanitarian settings either as volunteer or as part of work or study.

    Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultivated relationships with office colleagues from diverse cultural background and counterparts;
  • Teamwork orientation;
  • Proactive attitude to problem solving, participation in team discussion, and ability to use initiative;
  • Collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data using a variety of tools and approaches;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure as part of team.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office package, especially Word, Excel and Power Point is required. Further skills on audio/video editing are an asset.

    Organizational Context

  • The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide.
  • We are currently seeking to fill a Logistics intern intern position at WFP, Regional Bureau Nairobi. The position will be based at Regional Breau Nairobi(RBN) in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from September, 2017.

    Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP RBN Logistics Unit with the following key duties:
  • Research and identify possibilities and advantages of new technologies to
    assist logistics operations effectively in humanitarian response;
  • Contribute the development of concept note/ business case/ scope of work on new initiatives;
  • Collate date and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics colleagues and staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach to food assistance;
  • Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards;
  • Provide support on formulating operational notes and weekly reports;
  • Assist in developing monthly key performance indicator dashboard in the regional transport, storage and distribution operations;
  • Assist in mapping stakeholder analysis to identify opportunities of expanding WFP Service Provision in the region;
  • Assist in logistical administrations for meetings/ workshops/ conferences;
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as requested.
