United Nations LCE Russian interpreters Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Services up to seven meetings per week (exceptionally eight), usually of no more than three hours duration, of various United Nations bodies.
  • Russian interpreters provide interpretation into Russian of speeches given in English and French or Spanish.
  • May occasionally be assigned to sensitive meetings.
  • May function as team leader of all interpreters assigned to a given meeting.
  • May perform other related duties, as required.

    Education

  • Hold at least a three-year first level university degree from a recognized school of interpretation at which Russian is the main language of instruction and at least one full academic year is devoted to interpretation.
  • Alternatively, applicants must hold a three-year first level degree or an equivalent qualification from a university or institution of equivalent status at which Russian is the language of instruction, and have 200 days of experience as conference interpreters.

    Work Experience

  • Relevant language experience in international organizations may be taken into consideration by the Board of Examiners.

    Languages

  • Have a perfect command of Russian, which is normally expected to be their main language. (Main language" should be understood to be the language into which the applicant is best able to interpret.)
  • Have an excellent knowledge of English and an excellent knowledge of French or Spanish.
  • Applicants' claim to knowledge of official languages of the United Nations and possession of the required academic degrees must be supported by relevant documentation attached to their application.
  • Further evidence of degrees, knowledge of languages and/or relevant experience may be required prior to convocation.

    United Nations Director, Corporate Services, D2 Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Overseeing UN Environment's information technology requirements and coordinates the knowledge management and training requirements and activities;
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the Executive Director of UN Environment. Overseeing all aspects of planning and strategic management of human resources for UN Environment taking due account of geographical and gender balance and other institutional values
  • Overseeing the administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Office
  • Reporting to intergovernmental bodies on budget/programme preparation and performance or on programmatic/ substantive issues, as appropriate, particularly those presented in biannual and/or annual reports.
  • Providing leadership to the development of innovative and/or change management programmes.

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in social sciences, public business administration and management is required.
  • A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

    Work Experience

  • At least fifteen years (15) of relevant and progressively responsible experience, preferably with 10 years within a senior management position in a national/ international organization with project financing, budgeting, human resources and management required.
  • Successful budget preparation and management experience in an international organization and the demonstrated leadership of a team of staff working on corporate services, including budget preparation and management is required.

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. A good working knowledge of French is desirable.

    Responsibilities

  • Participating in and providing recommendations on the development of policies and procedures relating to all aspects of conference servicing in the planning and servicing of United Nations conferences and meetings held at and away from
    Nairobi and its related documentation
  • Planning and overseeing the management of activities undertaken by the Section; Liaising with other organizations of the United Nations System, donors and agencies as appropriate;
  • Representing the United Nations at negotiations with Governments with respect to the hosting of meetings and conferences away from Headquarters
  • Managing, supervising and carrying out the work programme of the Division under his/her responsibility

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in languages, communications, international affairs, public administration, management, social sciences or related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in planning and coordinating delivery of conference services and special events, including 5 years at the international level or in multicultural institutions.
  • Work experience in varied assignments in the organization. Management and leadership experience in coordinating international conferences with the United Nations system organizations is highly desirable.

    Languages

  • English and French are the official United Nations Languages. For this post, Fluency in English is required both oral and written. Working knowledge of at least one additional official UN languages an asset.

    United Nations Communications Officer, P3 Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Support the inter-agency Communications and Knowledge Management Working Group, including chairing monthly coordination meetings.
  • Promote media coverage (e.g. press conferences, interviews, press seminars and other special activities of priority issues and/or major achievements and events of the Programme
  • Monitor and analyze current events, public opinion and press, identify issues and trends, and advise management on appropriate action/responses.
  • Manage and grow contact lists including: general info subscribers, media, newsletter subscribers, weekly roundup subscribers.
  • Support national-level communication teams.
  • Point media inquiries to respective REDD representatives and technical experts.
    Report on the achievement of defined communication outcome

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. A first university degree with a combination of two years professional and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

    Work Experience

  • A minimum of five years of relevant working experience in the field of communications and knowledge management in the area of environment is required.
  • Good working knowledge of the Internet, as well as electronic communications important; excellent writing skills in English are required, and experience writing in French and or Spanish is an asset; Managerial and administrative experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on communications with multi-stakeholder partners, including with partners from governments, the United Nations, the private sector and/or civil society is an asset
