How can you make a difference?

  • We are looking for a dynamic WASH Officer to support to ESARO's important work in the area of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene by contributing in the following areas:

    Programme Development & Planning

  • Draft updates for WASH in the situation analysis, to inform the development of WASH-related outcome and output results.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation and documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevance of information.
  • Contribute to the development/establishment of WASH-related outcome and output results, as well as related strategies, through analysis of WASH sector needs and priorities.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing/administering a variety of technical programme transactions, preparing materials/documentations
  • Prepare required documentations/materials to facilitate review and approval process.

    To qualify as a WASH advocate for every child, you will have…

  • Be a national of a developing country that appear on the list of the following countries eligible for the Dutch JPO Programme:
  • Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or other specialist field related to WASH is required.
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with qualifying experience (at least 3 years of relevant working experience) may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • Part of the candidates' academic training must have taken place in a developing country that appears on the following list of eligible countries of the Dutch JPO Programme.
  • Two to maximum four years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

    How can you make a difference?

  • Manage the Child Protection Section delivering on the results for the Child Protection Programme, particularly related to the development of a Child
  • Protection System including in emergencies as referenced in the 2014-2018 Country Programme Document and detailed in the existing Rolling Work plans.
  • Protection activities with the activities of other programmes through interaction with programme group colleagues.
  • It also includes management of supplies, travel of sections staff, cash assistance to partners, resource mobilization and leveraging, systematic management of programme funds
    including reporting of gaps funds analysis, as well as donor and annual reporting.
  • Oversee management of Programme Officers working closely with the Government of Kenya to develop the various components contributing to a Child Protection System in Kenya both at national and county level within the new devolved governance structure.
  • Liaise with bilateral agencies, governmental and non governmental organizations and other UN agencies in Kenya in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes aimed at furthering children’s protection from violence, exploitation and abuse.
  • Represent UNICEF at child protection meetings, seminars and advocacy events.
  • Support the development of a coherent, rights based approach to alternative family-based care within Kenya.
  • This includes supporting the development of a responsive institutional framework, including appropriate support to the judiciary and Children’s’ Department within the system approach.

    To qualify as a/an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law or related technical field.
  • A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of field programmes, particularly child protection programmes in developing countries, some of which should be in the region concerned.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the a local language is an asset.
