UN Children's Fund Consultantacy-Professional Communication Services -Editors and Writters for Prequalification Job in Uganda

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision the Communications Specialist the consultant will be writing, proofreading and editing specific UCO communication and public advocacy materials targeting key audiences. The materials will also include research studies, situational analysis, programme documents.

The consultant’s work will support the UCO through the Communication Section to promote UNICEF Uganda’s activities, and leadership in information dissemination and knowledge management, strengthen partnerships and further health, education and child protection programme goals.

Key Tasks:

  • To write, edit and review reports, publications documents, research findings and communication materials
  • To review and edit presentation style and format to confirm with UNICEF branding guidelines
  • To Generate abridged versions of information and communication materials
  • Cross checking grammar and unclear meanings in communication materials

    Key Deliverables

  • Well written, edited and reviewed reports, publications, documents, research findings and any other communication materials submitted electronically within the agreed deadline. All products should be edited and written to enable the public appreciate and consume them.
  • Reviewed and edited presentation style, format in the reports, publications, documents, research findings before they are sent for designing and printing.
  • Generated abridged versions of reports, publications, survey findings and any other communication materials as the need arises ready for dissemination to various target audiences.
  • Unclear meanings in the reports, publications, research findings, sector documents double checked with the original drafter of the materials.
  • Where necessary, meetings held and regular exchange of information done with the Communication focal point and respective sector specialists/officers responsible for the materials in order to agree on the tasks, scope, time-frame and report progress.
  • Payment will be based upon completion of assignments and provision of the deliverables to the contact focal point.

    To qualify asan advocate for every child you will have…

  • Should have first degree in B. MassCom, B. Journalism, B. Literature, B. Communication, B. English;
  • At least five years’ relevant professional experience including broad experience in writing, editing, crafting messages for a wider range of audiences.
  • Experience in undertaking similar tasks especially writing reports and strategic documents for an international organization.
  • Previous
    work experience in multi-sectoral teams
  • Capacity to communicate and facilitate information exchange with professionals (UNICEF staff and partners).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Creativity with various communication concepts and attention to detail required
  • Knowledge of UN common practices and UNICEF mandate and brand
  • Open to national and international applicants
  • Sample work should be attached.
