3. St Andrews School Assistant Chaplain Jobs in Kenya


The Role


Reporting to the Whole School Chaplain, Assistant Chaplain will be responsible for the development, management and promotion of weekly Bible Studies, Christian Clubs and pupil’s discipleship within the School. They will also liaise with the Whole School Chaplain in matters related to managing
the acts of Christian worship within the School and training of the School community in appropriate and meaningful acts of Christian worship.

The role has a significant strategic element to it and the applicant will be expected to play a leading part in shaping the School’s Christian Ethos as we strive to provide a world class Senior School education.

Part of the role of the incoming Assistant Chaplain would be to monitor and administer Christian work within the School and to advise on the spiritual climate in the School with the aim of implementing the Whole School Chaplaincy vision for the further enrichment of the School Christian ethos.

The Assistant Chaplain will be expected to subscribe to the School Statement of Faith as adopted by the Board of Governors.

Person Specification

We look to recruit committed and resourceful staff, who are looking to not only develop their
skills and leadership capacities, but also embrace new experiences and challenges.

There are some things that are essential to working with us. The successful candidate
will need to be able to support the School's aims and Christian ethos. They will have to have a degree as well as a recognized Theological qualification, and of course, the relevant experience.

Beyond that we want to have staff who love working as part of a team; who are first-class communicators and who are passionate about the subjects and pupils they teach; who are creative and diligent in their planning; who are adaptable,
energetic and resilient.

Terms and Conditions

Remuneration


There is a generous overall remuneration package as detailed below (the cost of living in Kenya is significantly lower than in the UK):

  • Salary: The successful applicant will be placed on the Main Pay Scale.
  • Accommodation: suitable rent free accommodation will be provided as a taxable benefit. Domestic and gardening help is arranged by the School, but paid for, at local rates, by the applicant.
  • School fees (where applicable): there is a 100% fee remission for staff children throughout the School; places are subject to the School’s normal entry requirements. Fee remission is a taxable benefit.
  • Medical care: all members of staff and their families are covered under a comprehensive insurance scheme.
  • Pension: the School operates a defined contribution pension scheme in which the employer and employee each contribute 6% of monthly salary.

    For employees emigrating from Kenya at the end of their contract, the full value of the contributions, plus accumulated interest, can be withdrawn from the scheme.
  • Relocation: outward and return flights for the applicant, and for his/ her spouse and dependent children up to the age of 18 as applicable, together with a freight allowance, at the beginning and end of the contract period, are paid for by the School. Applicable to staff recruited from outside the country.
  • Meals: these are provided during term time as a taxable benefit.
  • Facilities: extensive sports facilities are open to use by staff and their families
  • Hours of work and holiday entitlement
  • The role is full-time and includes working in the evening and at weekends as required. The successful applicant will be expected to take a full and active part in the boarding life of the school.

    4. St Andrews School Whole School Counsellor Jobs in Kenya

    St Andrew’s School is seeking to appoint a Whole School Counsellor (WSC) who will be responsible for the Counselling and welfare of the students in
    the School.

    Reporting to
    the Deputy Heads (Pastoral) in the Prep and Senior School the WSC responsible for the development, administration of Counselling services of the School. They will also liaise with the Pastoral Team in the Senior School and the Welfare Management Team of the Prep School in
    matters including safeguarding and child Protection issues.

    The role has a significant strategic element to it and the applicant will be expected to play a leading part in shaping the School’s Christian Ethos as we strive to provide a world class Senior School education.

    Part of the role of the incoming Whole School Counsellor would be to provide counselling services to the students through appointments and drop in sessions. They should also be able to receive referrals from management, staff, students or parents and to see them as soon as possible.

    The Whole School Counsellor will be responsible for the formulation and reviewing of the appropriate systems, policies and procedures relating to the counselling services and care of students.

    Person Specification

    and of course, the relevant experience.
