4. SMEP Microfinance Bank Head of Finance Jobs in Kenya (HR/03/01/17)


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job holder will be responsible for effective strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring and reporting and ensuring compliance with local and international reporting and accountings standards and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for strategic financial planning in the Bank and ensuring compliance to internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Developing, monitoring and submissions of timely and accurate financial statements and reports that will guide the management and the board in strategic decision
    making
  • Development and implementation of the Finance Department strategy and managing the bank’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
  • Providing sound leadership to the Finance team
  • Oversees and leads annual budgeting and planning process
  • Ensures remittance of all statutory deductions and compliance to acceptable financial standards
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting and ensures that there is enough resources to transact business
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors
  • Manage the acquisition of assets and ensure that they are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
  • Advises the management on investment decisions taking into consideration risk and liquidity.
  • Oversees the capital structure of the Bank, determining the best mix of debt, equity and internal financing.

    Key Qualities, Competencies & Experiences
  • At least 8 years work experience in a Finance Department in a reputable Banking institution; 3 years of which must have been in a senior position
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and resultsorientation.
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Between 35 and 45 years of age

    Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, Business administration or equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (K) or recognized equivalent
  • A Post graduate Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and previous experience with T24 Banking system will be
    an added advantage.

    5. SMEP Microfinance Bank General Manager – Business & Strategy Jobs in Kenya (HR/02/01/17)

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job holder will be the main driver for Business Development, and take a leadership role in rallying the various business units towards the attainment of the business targets.

    He/She will be responsible for formulating and implementing the business development strategies for the Bank and ensure business growth of Assets, Liabilities, Revenue Streams and Customer Base.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze current Market and Industry trends and develop overall strategy for Business Development for the bank
  • Formulate and Implement policies and practices that are competitive and aligned to the
    bank’s growth strategies.
  • Plan and direct the bank’s business development activities to achieve short term and long term set financial performance standards.
  • Develop Business division budgets and manage approved capital and operating budgets, costs and profitability.
  • Execute business division plans in order to obtain results set in the corporate strategy
  • Drive performance in the liabilities, assets and other related revenue streams through the branch network
  • Manage and evaluate departments in business in order to drive performance
  • Identify and act on critical business decisions in order to enhance growth and profitability of banks business initiatives
  • Oversee the growth of the geographical footprint of the Bank.
  • Implement Strategies on penetration of virgin business segments, markets and sectors.
  • Ensure growth of assets and liabilities business including transactional, alternate and direct banking business.
  • Responsible for maintaining and growing the market share for customer segments, and effectively partnering with all other business lines in the bank for business growth.
  • Take a lead in product development and ensure alignment of products to customer needs and expectations.
  • Oversee the development of the Business Development Team by ensuring effective team mentorship, coaching and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with risk and compliance units to ensure effective controls to mitigate against business risks associated with Business.
  • Developing and continuously reviewing Business Development Policies and Procedures ensuring their compliance.
  • Safeguard and promote the bank’s image with the general public.

    Key Qualities, Competencies & Experiences
  • At least ten years experience in a Business Development role in a reputable commercial Bank; five of which must have in senior management.
  • Must have strong business acumen, a strategic thinker who is result oriented
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and networking skills
  • Should be an excellent negotiator who is dynamic and self driven
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • An open minded individual who is positive and proactive
  • Should be flexible and able to cope with competing demands and good in multitasking
  • Between 35 to 50 years of age

    Qualifications
  • University degree in a Business related field
  • Postgraduate studies or professional qualifications in a related field e.g MBA, MSc.,
    CPA, ACCA, CCP, etc would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills
  • Must be adept in ICT
