Job Description

Example rotations include:
  • Field Operations: This team is the direct service provider to our farmers, with the primary objective of building the capacity of our local staff to provide financially sustainable impact, at scale, to all One Acre Fund farmers.
  • Business Operations: The objective of our Operations departments is to ensure that we are able to deliver on all of our promises to our clients.
  • Logistics: The primary responsibility of our Logistics team is to ensure that we deliver life changing inputs and materials to farmers on time and at high quality.
  • Program Innovations: The Scale Innovations team aims to deepen One Acre Fund’s impact on every community we serve by increasing the percent of households who join our program, and by developing innovations that help our field staff serve farmers better.

    Qualifications

  • Strong work experiences. Examples include a demanding professional work experience, or successful entrepreneurial experience (e.g. starting a field program in a developing country, leading a conference, starting a business, etc).
  • Leadership experience at work, or outside of work.
  • Top-performing undergraduate background (include GPA and test scores on your resume).
  • Humility. We are looking for passionate professionals who combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service to join our growing family of leaders.
  • A willingness to live outside of a capital city, close to our customers for at least two years - this is a long-term, career-track role.
  • Language: English required in Kenya, French a plus in Rwanda and Burundi. Swahili-speakers are particularly encouraged to apply.

    One Acre Fund Monitoring and Evaluation Associate Jobs in Kenya

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Goal–oriented survey design, field-testing of survey instruments, and revision.
  • Supervise 3–5 M&E supervisors, 20–30 full–time M&E data collectors, 4 data entry staff, plus casuals. This will include the following duties:
  • Regular mentorship of M&E managers through field visits, meetings, and career reviews.
  • In–field supervision of key M&E activities, with an eye to "perfect" quality standard.
  • Quality–control and supervision of data entry, with zero tolerance for data–entry errors.
  • In–field follow–up on errors.
  • Hire and develop M&E data collectors.
  • Update hiring protocols, and use them to hire top–quality data collectors.
  • Conduct regular trainings to improve skills of data collectors.
  • Appropriately deal with under–performing staff.
  • Innovation on new methods such as tablet–based data collection.
  • Data analysis to draw both early and final conclusions and actionable recommendations.

    Qualifications

  • Strong work experiences. Examples include a demanding professional work experience, or successful entrepreneurial experience (e.g. starting a field program in a developing country, leading a conference, starting a business, solid Peace Corps accomplishments).
  • Prior field–based M&E experience is required.
  • More importantly, we are seeking someone with proven entrepreneurial and leadership experience the vast majority of the job is to monitor and improve M&E operations in the field.
  • Statistical knowledge is nice to have, but we also have experts who can help with that
    side of things.
  • Leadership experience at work, or outside of work.
  • Top–performing undergraduate record (please include GPA and test scores on your resume). Master’s degree is not required.
  • Humility and personal stability. We have a fantastic and likable team. We are looking for passionate professionals that combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service.
  • A willingness to commit to living in East Africa for at least two years – this is a long–term, career–track role. The ideal candidate will have at least one year demonstrated experience working in the developing world, although this is not a strict requirement.
  • Language – French and English required for Rwanda; English for Kenya

    One Acre Fund Kenya People Division Deputy Jobs in Kenya

    Duties

    Strategy & Vision
  • Together with the division director, set and steer course for the 5-15-year vision.
  • Ensure department annual plans align with long-term vision and targets.
  • Measure progress against goals, regularly report on progress, hold the team accountable to prioritizing and delivering results in key strategic areas.
  • Prepare our people departments to scale rapidly, allowing OAF deliver rural services to 500,000 clients through 3,000 staff members by 2020.
  • Hold Kenya program accountable to meet career promises to all staff – meaningful work, career growth and fair compensation.

    Communication
  • Proactively and effectively communicate up to the division director and country leadership, down to departments, across to other sets of leaders.
  • Ensure People Departments are collaborating effectively with individuals, teams and divisions outside of the people division. Set-up appropriate systems of communication to keep everyone moving together.
  • Participate in global people work and collaborate with other country programs.

    Qualifications

  • HR/Talent management experience.
  • Strong people management experience (at least 3 years of managing a team of highly skilled workers).
  • Strong leadership experiences with the demonstrated ability to lead a team to accomplish its goals.
  • High emotional intelligence: Self-regulation and empathy in particular.
  • A true team player: You’ll be willing to do whatever it takes to help the Kenya team.
  • Excellent judgment in sensitive people issues, management skills, creative problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

  • A willingness to commit to living in rural areas of East Africa for at least two years – this is a long-term, career-track role.
