The Mwangi Business Scholarships in Ireland for Kenyan Students

Irish Aid co-sponsors an African business woman each year to pursue a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School through the Mwangi Business Scholarship.

The scholarship was set up in 2013 to commemorate the late Mbugua Mwangi, the son of the former Ambassador of Kenya to Ireland, Ms Catherine Mwangi, who was murdered in the Westgate attack in Nairobi.

Eligible Countries: Kenya

Eligible Courses: Masters in Business Administration at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.

UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in conjunction with the Irish Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Mwangi MBA Scholarship Competition.

The successful candidate of this Scholarship competition will be awarded an opportunity to complete a full-time MBA at one of the world’s leading business schools and to live in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities.

This scholarship has been named as a mark of solidarity with the people of Kenya, and in memory of Mr Mbugua Mwangi and his fiancée Rosemary Wahito who were tragically killed in the Westgate attack in Nairobi in September 2013.

Mbugua Mwangi was the only son of Ireland’s former Ambassador of Kenya, Ms Catherine Mwangi.

The Scholarship includes: full tuition fees for the full-time MBA at UCD Smurfit School to the value of €34,500 and a €20,500 stipend.

Please note that applications will only be considered for the MBA full-time course.

Applications should not be submitted for any other course.

Scholarships Notice

Candidates qualifying for more than one scholarship or bursary and successful in that, can’t add or combine them.

They will be awarded the higher amount.

Candidates can't transfer or use one scholarship or bursary between or against another programme.

Scholarships and bursaries are also not allowed to be deferred to a future academic year so will be awarded to the student for the year they are offered a place only in UCD Smurfit.

That is, students can't defer their place in UCD Smurfit to a future year.
