3. Moi University Principal University Architect Jobs in Kenya - Scale 14 (1 Position) MU/ADM/2/2/2017


Job Description
The Principal Architect will be the Head the Architectural Section. He/she will be responsible for monitoring of expenditure on the University Building Programmes; the officer will also be in-charge of a number of multidisciplinary working groups employed in the design and construction of various types of University buildings.

In addition, the officer will be required to co-ordinate the preparation of forward budget, draft and revised development estimates for development projects. Duties will also entail dealing with policy matters of architectural nature originating from University, University Campuses, research and private consultants, faculties, departments, government ministries; manpower training projections; Council matters, maintenance of discipline and matters relating to the day today
administrative problems of the section.

In the absence of the Development Officers, the Principal Architect will be the Head of the entire Development Department.

Job Specification for Serving Officers
  • served in the grade of Senior Architect or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • been in possession of the full professional qualifications including registration by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors; of Kenya;
  • been a member of a recognized Professional Society;
  • a thorough knowledge of computer;
  • demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  • must have a Master Degree in Architecture, Urban/Physical Planning or Business Administration
  • A PhD would be an added advantage

    Job Specification for Direct Appointment
  • Should possess professional qualifications as for Serving officers.
  • must have served in the Government or a large professional organization for a minimum period of (12) years.
  • Should have a master degree in any Architectural disciplines.
  • must be registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors.
  • Be a member of a recognized Professional Society.
  • be computer literate in relevant packages (Auto card)
  • PhD would be an added advantage.

    In addition to the qualifications set out in the constitution and the enabling statutes, the applicants for both serving officers and direct appointment, must meet the requirements of Chapter six of Kenya Constitution by providing relevant certificates from the following bodies:-
    - Director, E.A.C.C.
    - Commissioner General, K.R.A.
    - Chief Executive Officer, H.E.L.B.
    - Certificate of Good Conduct
    - Credit Reference Bureau African Ltd or Metropol Credit reference Bureau.
    - Professional Bodies (where applicable) to which the applicant belong.

    4. Moi University Senior Structural/ Civil Engineer Jobs in Kenya - Scale 13 (1 Position) MU/ADM/3/2/2017

    Job Description
    Duties and Responsibilities will include monitoring and execution of the work in specialized fields of civil engineering. Specific duties will involve being in charge of design teams, dealing with structural design, detailing and supervision of University buildings and other structures; Liaison with Architects
    on problems connected with projects under the Department and also checking and monitoring work produced by consulting engineers.

    Other duties will include preparation of specifications; bill of quantities; supervision and maintenance of the sewerage disposal scheme, surface water disposals,
    roads, parking areas, paved areas of the University buildings, schools, hospitals and other establishments and co-ordination of planning and execution of the projects under the Colleges and Campuses.

    The officer will, in all functional areas, be responsible and report directly to the principal Structural Engineer.

    Job Specification for Serving Officers
  • served in the grade of Structural Engineer Scale MU12 for a minimum period of three (3) years with a Master Degree, and five (5) years without a Master Degree;
  • been registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya and be a corporate member of the Institution;
  • a thorough knowledge of computer;
  • demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.

    Job Specification for Direct Appointment
  • A Master degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Thorough knowledge of the computer, particularly in civil/structural engineering packages.
  • Current registration by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya
  • Served a large firm/organization, preferably government as a Registered Engineer for not less
    than six (6) years after registration by the said Board.
  • Served in an administrative or supervisory position in last three (3) years.
  • Wide experience in the field of structural/civil engineering in planning design, construction and
    maintenance of structural and civil works, ensuring sufficiency design, specifications, quality control and contracts administration.
