12. Finance Director, Africa (Ref: KENRO- 01)

Overall Purpose/Broad Function

Lead the finance and administration function including accounting, administration, budgeting, reporting and IT requirements for the Africa region in close coordination with the Finance and Administration Unit at HQ.

Education and Experience
• Masters in Commerce with at least 10 years accounting experience and a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial management position in the development sector.
• Professional accounting designation (i.e. Chartered Accountant)
• Experience working with foreign currencies and foreign accounting practices
• Experience in budgeting and budget management as well as donor reporting

• Ability to control and manage financial policy and procedures and good practices/systems
• Solid knowledge of accounting software, MS Dynamics GP (Great Plains) an asset

Overall Purpose/Broad Function

Ensure professional and efficient handling of visitors to the Kenya office, telephone calls and messages including requests for information; as well as carrying out a variety of administrative duties to facilitate the work of MI’s operational staff.

Education and Experience
• BTS in secretarial studies, or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Experience working for an international organization, an asset

Overall Purpose/Broad Function

To provide effective and efficient administrative and organisational support primarily to the Regional Director but also to the Deputy Regional Directors, while contributing to the effective and efficient management of administrative systems for the office in general.

Education and Experience
• College degree from a recognized university in Administration/Office management/Secretarial services or related field with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position
Or
• College diploma or certificate in Administration/Office management/Secretarial services plus 8 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Experience working for an international organization, an asset

15. Monitoring and Reporting Manager, Africa (Ref: KENRO- 10)

Overall Purpose/Broad Function

To lead the monitoring and donor reporting function for the Africa region.

Education and Experience
• At least 10 years of experience in monitoring similar programs in developing countries.
• Master’s degree in monitoring and evaluation or related discipline
is desirable.
• At least five years working in Africa preferred.
• Specific experience with monitoring of nutrition and health programs is preferred. Familiarity with HMIS, DHS, MICS also preferred.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely with previous donor reporting experience preferred.

2. Overall Purpose/Broad Function: In line with MI’s strategic objectives in Africa, and, in partnership with key stakeholders in Tanzania, to arrange and provide appropriate technical and other assistance to the Government of Tanzania and/or other stakeholders to help them provide, on a sustainable basis, improved child, adolescent and women’s health and nutrition services, particularly those at most risk, within which appropriate micronutrient interventions are integrated and achieve sustained high coverage and utilization.

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

3.1 Project Development:
  • Support the Country Director to ensure that the landscape analysis for child adolescent and women health and nutrition and fortification programs are regularly updated and available.
  • Support Country Director with information necessary for designing of country plans and proposals.

    3.2 Project Implementation and Management
  • Develop annual work plans and budgets for country projects.
  • Ensure that work plan activities are implemented as scheduled and per the approved budgets.
  • Carry out site monitoring visits to ensure that implementing partners are implementing project activities according to agreed strategy and contractual commitments.
  • Ensure data monitoring plans are timely implemented, project monitoring data is collected, and the data workbooks are regularly updated.
  • Develop quality monthly and quarterly and annual performance monitoring (both technical and financial) reports and ensure challenges are identified and recommended corrective actions are timely implemented.
  • Draw up on internal MI expertise in Tanzania, the Regional, and Headquarter Offices as necessary to ensure projects are on track.
  • Review and analyze technical and financial project reports from implementing partners and ensure that remedial actions are taken to ensure that project are on track.
  • Input into the MI Contract Database all approved financial commitments and regularly update the Contracts Databases for the two interventions in line with MI contract management procedures.
  • In support of both internal team work and partnership coordination committees, prepare documentation for meetings and conference calls, taking detailed notes on decisions and action points from such meetings and ensuring follow up of same.
  • Support the implementing organization in procuring commodities, if needed.
